salon - loctician dreads

salon and loctician dreads recovery

never mind the 80% beeswax wich isnt greasy cause its too solid yo rub off on anuyhing.but the "mash"system is felting the absolutely worse thing you can possibly do to dreads and the "re-looping" is interlocking

id like to see if they have other vids

I found this while I was looking at soaps, it in a suburb of Melbourne, 30 mins from where I live.

they have a technique called monkey locks ?

SE, edit my post if you need to,I wasn't sure if it was appropriate for this thread bud I had to share it out of pure fright !

here is there advice and a short video.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mPMMJusqxEs

We Suggest Waxing!

The reason that I created the Monkey Locks range of products was that I could see the lack of natural ingredients in other products. In other products that claim to be natural, the only thing that was genuinely natural was the Beeswax, which only made up 10% of the total product! This meant that 90% of the product, was made up of Petroleum Jelly and Fillers which makes your Dreadlocks greasy and oily. Scalp irritations and skin problems have also occurred when these products have been used on Dreads. This is not very friendly. Funny huh! Dreadlockers are nature lovers, carers of the environment yet unfortunately, they are fooled into believing that the products that they are using are natural. It took me (Bruno Rossi), eighteen months to perfect and make a totally natural wax! Making the Monkey Locks range from scratch was a painful process but worth every effort.

  • The Monkey Locks range has 80% Beeswax in each tub!
  • I came about sourcing locally made ingredients like Beeswax, Olive Oil and other ingredients that make up this product. I was constantly mixing and blending ingredients, trying to come up with a mixture that would not be greasy like the others.
  • I was also looking for something that would allow the product to disappear once applied to the Dreadlock, and not appear on the back of clothes and pillows. Other waxes can remain greasy for two weeks after the application.
  • Monkey Locks Wax has no chemicals whatsoever and only has what nature has created!
  • So try this product and I guarantee that you will be impressed with the difference. The Monkey Locks wax will make your Dreads look more beautiful and grease free!
As we all know, hair never stops growing. Every month hair will grow a centimetre, and that means that eventually you will have loose, fuzzy hair! We lose about 50-150 hairs a day, and new hair is always replacing itself. A lack of maintenance may result in some Dreadlocks falling out. This is caused by the hair at the base of the dreads becoming too thin and therefore falling out. This is why you need to merge all new hair back into the same section of the dread, to keep the strength at the base of each dread. Simply cutting loose fuzzy hair away is not the answer to gorgeous tidy looking dreads. So maintenance is necessary every 2-5 months depending on the growth of your Dreadlocks. We simply put all of the loose hair back into your dreads by mashing the hair back into your dreads, which is a totally natural process.
  • Waxing will keep your dreads neat and tidy.
  • Without the use of wax, they will rub against each other and merge in time.
  • When sleeping on a pillow, this can also merge the dreads; one solution would be to sleep with a beanie or bandana. This will keep the dreads in place and prevent rubbing.
  • Always use a bandana when wearing a helmet. This avoids squishing the dreads in the tight spots and dragging the Dreadlocks, which could pull and damage them.

salon - loctician dreads

salon and loctician dreads recovery

its true not all are bad 1% might not be horible in fact i can think of a couple that are worthy of respect for refusing to use harmful methods..but 99% are horible ive seen damians vids and although your right he does offer much good advice he also suggests interlocking as a way to "fix" the thinning caused by twisting wich only makes the problem much worse

tho i do give him credit for meaning well and trying to do the right thing

but still would be better to avoid him along with the rest

you are so anti loctician that you try to chastise all of them. Granted im sure their are bad one but i dont see you having anyone that have done good with people hair Damion Walter doesnt use wax and give good advice. He even tells people that you should get it done alot your scalp needs time to heal and not to put to much tension on the head. Sure they are people who dont know what they are doing but they are always people who do also you can say that in any profession there will be incompetence. You just seem though to try and give everyone this scare tactic to be natural i am going natural but that is of my choosing. sure natural may be the least damaging but their are many thing people do that you can do another way to be less damaging or even more effective. I have seem your video on the guy with traction alopecia or how ever its spelled but he over did his twisting, everything has to be done in moderation. Thats just my feelings on it you always seem to want to criticize everyone who doesnt go natural or just asks about you the reply seems to be snooty not everyone wants that natural look and want it more tidy and im sure you can have tidy without it making you bald.

salon - loctician dreads

salon and loctician dreads recovery

salons and locticians are notorious for creating strange and scary locs or dreadlocks

while searching google i found many hilarious examples ..hilarious till you remember these are real people who had this done to them..and paid a high price for it too.

then suddenly that google giggle you were after becomes a tragic plea for sanity..

so lets share some of the crazy dreads youve seen come out of locticians and salons..

used as an example of the salons work in thier gallery!

ofcourse the 1st thing that comes to mind when you think loctician dreads (especialy african locs) is balding, thinning roots traction alopecia and widening gaps or 'edges"

as dreads get thinner and thinner and the gaps wider may dreads are twisted tightly together pulling hair in from ever wider areas reducing the overall hair covering the scalp drastically

doesnt take long till theres more scalp then dread

wich leaves you wondering "didnt i have hair over there?"

ofcourse who can forget the horrors of dread wax/

around the time this photo was taken another freind went to another salon in uk they said 'we dont use wax cause wax is gross" then poured a bucket of black liquid latex (yes rubber) over her blond hair and twisted it and called it dreads (not pictured)

so theres a few examples but i want you to share your scariest craziest most unusual finds

plz try not to call out salons (if thry use a logo on a picture thats just outragios well thats diferent ) or people who went to said salons

this isnt about the people but a demonstration of some of the most whacked out crazy scary or disasterous things people have done when they pay to have dreads done at a salon or loctician

the hunt is on lets see what you can find

using hair ties

Introduce Yourself

yes you can but yes it will hinder if you can tie it loosely thats better also leave it down as much as u can

it will also encourage it to form as 1 pont dread so more separating will be needed

a scarf or bandana would be better but if u must tie it loose as u can and let it down as soon as u leave work

Will dreads increase my pain?

General Questions

well dreads will be in diferent lengths regardless but it doesnt seem to have anyth9ing to fdo with thickness

the roots should never be tight enough to hurt only salon dreads would hurt

Juniper Prla said:

Ah ok. Sounds nice with different sizes. Will the locks grow different in lenght becouse of the width?
I imagine it takes a longer time for a thick dread to reach its girth, and also that a dread grows girth first and then starts to grow in lenght. Or is that just in my imagination?

soaring eagle said:

thin hair its good to have a mix odf sizes a few thicker ones a couple medium and a bunch of thin to fill in make it look fuller and thicker the riiot area at the scalp determines the eventual dread size (roughly might not be exact) if u use a 1 inchsection the dread will be around 1 inch hair thickness doesnt change this (much at all anyway
