is there a solution that can be made? or a tip to help dreadlocks lock faster....I know you have to keep them clean, but anything else? sea salt helps i hear too...but i am looking for some tips or tricks to help them lock up faster cuz im going natural, and im starting to get good dreads coming in, so i want to help them grab and lock.

I started dreading a year and 13 days ago ....my hair was 1 inch long...and now, its down to my jawline ...I was involved in a horrible accident, and i shattered my knee and collerbone, i was told I would never run again ... no more sports, no more activities, no more living. But I was more than thankful , because I could still stand, and walk....Thank God I made it out in this condition...It was during that time thatI decided I would go for dreadlocks .... the natural way , Because that's really the only way to get them, in my opinion.I'vealways wanted dreadlocks, since as long asI could remember...but I was afraid of what people would think, how people would look at me, and my family wouldnt support me . But now! I'm awakened from that state of mind and my dreads are finally forming. It's been a long wait, but I'd do it all over if I had to.

I want to look like man...untouched by judgement, untouched by looks, untouched by life itself.

Up until about 4 weeks ago...I was having NO progression with dreadlocks, and now...the transformation has more than just begun! Thankyou all for the support , tips , and stories that got me through all of this, you are all like family, much love <3

Never give up on what you want, never settle for anything less than what you are worth, live to be different , don't follow socieitys rules, LIVE! Your only gunna be on this earth once , make it count .

I've been thinking about making youtube videos about my journey, what do you guys think? Also, I write poetry, so If anyone is ever bored, or interested in reading some, Please ask. I'd love to share my words with the world, thanks :D

Your dreads are like the root, they need water,
Your holding there seed, and your the potter,
Your dreads are like the leafs, they need sun,
Your wildest adventures, have just begun,
Your dreads are like the trunk, it's where we find freedom,
Your dreads provide confidence, in this new found kingdom,
Your dreads need care, don't smother them with wax,
Your dreads don't like this, and it's major setbacks,

So today I had an interview for Starbucks....I was being interviewed with about 20 other people...the interviews were 15-20minutes each.

So I'm waiting two hours...then I finally get an interview, and 1 1/2 minutes later, they shake my hand and say thanks for stopping by....

WTF!!!
I was just as well dressed and just as proper, if not more, than everyone else there....I am an excellent communicator and I am great at interviews...and they shut me down in less than two minutes because I have long hair!?

Now they didnt actually mention my hair but they way they were eyeballing me...and how fast the interview went, I know for a fact thats exactly what happened...

I'm so upset about this. and quite offended and my pride is hurt.

Natural dreadlocks + sweat & BS WASH QUESTION

Dread Maintenance

So, i work alot out in my yard, California is getting pretty hot this summer...and I was wondering, do I have to wash my hair everytime it gets sweaty? or is it better to just wait 2-3 days?

I'm still doing natural dreadlocks, it's pretty cool so far, not much change yet but I'm patient :P

My other question is how much baking soda do I add to a gallon of water, and is there anything else i should add in it?
