Well, you're not really WASHING. Just rinsing.. Just stand in the shower with your head bent over and POUR the dissolved stuff in water OVER your locs.. sqeeze.. get a towel.. wrap around your head.. squeeze.. like a sponge.. Flip. Spray.. Let dry.

I am so new to this myself, but I know NOW from experience... if you have rubber bands in your hair--- TAKE THEM OUT!!! Your head WILL stop hurting, and your locs will look better! Leave the ends alone.. they will take care of themselves.. Rinse your hair without scrubbing in the shower with baking soda and sea saltdissolved in warm water. Spray with lemon juice *just get a cheap or clean recycled spray bottle*. Squeeze dry with a towel, and let air dry. They are brand new.. give the babies time to grow.. Mine are only 3 days old with Twist & Rip, but they look pretty good, if I do say so myself!

Help! Save My Dreads

I am going to be honest.. To start out... I thought the same thing. I wanted PERFECTLY EVEN, PERFECTLY ROUND dreads. Straight from scalp to blunt tip. *TURDS* as my bald husband so elegantly described them. NOW.. as I have literally worried myself sleepless over my hair... I am satisfied. I have had a full head of locs for 3 days.. and they are doing what nature intended them to do and I think they are beautiful. I could NOT ask for better locs. I do not touch them unless I need to move one out of my face or rinse them. I know I am a newbie, but if I could tell ANYONE how to dread.. I would reccomend twist and rip-with NO rubberbands, and then LET THEM BE. Look at my photos.. you will see what I mean. Hope this helps! Peace K!

Are all Knotty Boy and DreadHead products bad for dreads?

Baking soda CAN be harsh on scalps if too much is used and not rinsed cleanly away! I use it because it is cheap and additive free! :)

Thank you and your wallet for not blowin' $50.00 on your dreads.

And, I'm glad the BS/ACV is workin' for ya! :)

Nothing wrong with TNR to get them started, and then letting them do their own natural thing. That's what I did. They loosened up a lot, so it's kind of like I just let them be all natural, but they have a bit of pre-formed definition. I don't tnr the loosened ends or backcomb or palmroll.

I have heard that before, too.. from black people.. oh, you can't have dreads, that's just for black people.. I'm sorry.. but if hair CAN naturally dread.. then it's supposed to. :) Regardless of race.

Type 3b?

My husband's hair, and family were the same way. He had thick, curly hair that grew up and out.. like a fro. They made him feel so bad and kept it short, and when he grew it out, he got a pair of electric clippers sprung on him and a 2 inch gap, so he's had his head shaved ever since.. He has talked about letting it grow back out and getting dreads, but he is afraid of his family's opinion.

I know what it's like to be in a foster home, unfortunately my experience wasn't as positive as yours. But congrats....

Discrimination is everywhere.. mostly in ignorance,.. just smile and go on. Do what makes you happy.

:)

Peace K!

Mary
