my mature dreadlocks are breaking off??

General Questions

hi everyone! so i've had my dreads for over 2 1/2 years now (they're to the middle of my back), and they've locked up very well. i started with twist n rip and used baking soda/acv washes. recently quite a few my dreads have started getting weak spots in the middle, and the part thats closer to the tips will start to almost ball up? then eventually that weak spot will turn to loose hair holding on a section of my dread and then i can just pull it off.i had a job where i had to put my hair in a bun everyday, could that have contributed to this?any help is appreciated :)

7 month old dreads, how're they looking?

General Questions

oh yeah they're definitely still a little wild. i have a few underneath that are kind of loose but they should lock up soon enough.

thanks :) shanxon, how old are yours?

7 month old dreads, how're they looking?

General Questions

I was just wondering if things look like they're heading in the right direction, they've certainly grown a lot :) how much longer does it look like they'll take to be matured dreads?

By the way, I wasn't sure if this is the right section to post this under, so if not, terribly sorry.

is rinsing my dreads everyday okay?

Dread Maintenance

(I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but here goes :P)

Every 2-3 days i wash my hair with BS/essential oils/ACV and spray salt water on everyday, but between washes i rinse with warm water, scrub a little bit, and then rinse with cool/cold water.

I do this because I smoke cigarettes and I feel like i gets the smell out of myhair, and I don't want to be walking around with a head full of dreads smelling like stale ickysmoke :P

My dreads are about 3 months old, in varying stages of locking up and I know at some point it'd be bad to rinse my hair everyday because they wouldn't dry properly..

ShouldI keep doing what I'm doing or start to cut back on the rinses?

thanks in advance :D

hello! questions about new dreadlocks?

Introduce Yourself

so, i started my dreads oct 21 (it's oct 28 now), using the twist and rip. so far i've washed my hair with only water and 2 bs/acv washes. i noticed some of my dreads were unravelling so i decided to use a sea salt/lemon juice spray... and then they unravelled even more. (no more lemon juice for me, thanks se :) ) keep in mind i have fine hair that's slightly wavy, but its a medium amount of hair that is also very soft. some of them had becoming so unravelled they literally went back to being un-tnr-ed hair, almost like they were brushed >_< i decided to redo the twist and rip again on the ones that were unravelled the most, but then i saw on this website that you should just leave your hair alone.. now i'm afraid i MAY have messed up my hair.any suggestions/advice?

Play any instruments?

General Talk

i play the didgereedoo :) not perfectly (it takes a lot of practice to master circle breathing, which is how you play the didgeredoo. there's videos on youtube) but decent enough!
