Finally bit the bullet... Couple of questions?

Dreading Methods

yah, ive come to the conclusion that the hairband for the ponytail is responsible.. i have the same thing goin on, and i wore a ponytail (even when i slept) for like 5 years or more.dont worry, it will sort itself out and it will look great

Introduce Yourself

i buy all of my things at walmart or the corner store on my food stamps (lol). buy yourself a box of baking soda and a bottle of apple cider vinegar, thats all you really need. keep em clean and they will lock up.1/4-1/3 cup baking soda in a gallon of waterpour over head, wait 10 minutes, rinse outabout half the amount of acv vs baking soda in a gallon of water, pour on wait a minute or 2 rinse out.sounds a little primative if you havent heard of it, but baking soda is a great solvent and gets all the grit, dandruff/skin flakes, oils, anything else in your hair out and just let it air dry.

hmmm dready question?

Dread Maintenance

sounds like theyre starting to dread! keep it going, if you redread you're going to undo all the progress. frizzyness and loops and curls and puffs and whatnot, especially if you're noticing certain parts sticking out and not laying flat, thats all progress that shows that your hair is actually dreading for real

Dreading Methods

yah if theyre new, it might make them look a little more razzled than they were previously, but thats good! the more movement your dreads have, the faster knots form! a word of caution, if you have beads make sure theyre at a level where theyre not going to flip into your face and hit you right in the eye... nobody thinks about that but i learned from experience at the kataklysm show.. lol

blow drying

Dread Maintenance

if anything all the hair blowing them around will make them form knots kind of like the wind. i dont know if the heat would change anything, but i did when mine were new for a few times and it was fine.

sleeping without any head covering: bad idea?

Dread Maintenance

sleeping without any head covering: bad idea?

Dread Maintenance

Hey guys. about 2 months or so ago i decided fuck it, im just gonna start sleeping without bandanna or dread band on, to hell with trying to baby them. i do toss and turn a *lot* during sleep, and i would repeatedly wake up finding my tightly tied bandanna off or almost off, though ive tried again lately, and it seems to stay better.Since then, ive noticed my dreads are getting a lot rattier, and i was wondering if its actually beneficial to sleep in some form of head covering.pics:
