23 babies dreads the natural way! :)

General Talk

I decided to try the natural route to dreads. It will be one week on thursday since i started letting my hair do its own thing. Tonight my boyfriend seperated 23 naturally formed baby dreads on my head. With the six i started with backcombing/t&r that gives me 29 so far! Its crazy that it has been less then a week and already i have great knotting forming all over my head! I cant wait to see how many I actually end up with. My journey has begun and I couldnt be happier with how it is going. :) just wanted to share my excitement and good news with everyone. I promise to put up pictures soon of the dreads after they were pulled apart some as well as the crazy knots that were forming before pulling apart and seperating!

I separate them CONSTANTLY. They are very hungry and love my loose hair. It is a real battle to keep them apart. They are doing pretty well though!

Yeah, I back combed and they were fluffy for a couple of days, then they got a little loose and now I am just letting them do their own thing and they will tighten up with time! I am going to let my boyfriend add a few more this weekend and I am going to try twist and rip this weekend also. Thank you for the advice!! = ]

i am def. going to try twist and rip. I am already in love with my 4! They can be a little unruly at times and like to stick out from my undreaded hair, but they are amazing and I love them very much!!!

Introduce Yourself

Hi guys! I am new here and new to the whole dread thing. I have been interested in them for a few years now but just haven't been in the right place to start them yet. I have started four just by back combing and now I am just leaving them alone to let them do their thing and they are actually already doing pretty well. I am just starting these four to get a feel for how my hair will behave and see how I will like them. I am open to any suggestions though and would love to hear your stories. Add me as a friend and chat me up!Emily

Hair patience

General Talk

I haven't had mine for very long either. Maybe you should use this as an opportunity to improve your patience. Not just with this, but with other aspects of your life. If you are seriously thinking about cutting them off, I agree that you may not be ready. Just be patient!! = ]
