natural neglect dreads in weeks not years

Dreading Methods

thanks you all! there are 3 methods of wax removal- which one do you all suggest? and for conditioning? i am so glad i found this site. i really dont want to cut em off, i want to keep them for a long long time. so health is paramount. cheers! Sister Rags said:

natural neglect dreads in weeks not years

Dreading Methods

i had my bf's mom do mine- all the same as you- section, backcomb, wax, and then she told me to palm-roll constantly and root rub often. i saw others she did and they looked great, so i didn't think twice. we waxed one more time before i figured it out for myself, just hated being sticky all the time. now, a year later my dreads look ok and i've recently stopped all rubbing and rolling but they are pretty damn stiff and very dry. i have a BUNCH of loose hair that wont show any signs of dreading. i did the baking soda cleanse and it helped somewhat- but i dont know at this point if i can rescue them or perhaps (*sob*) should start all over.... It was everywhere! I couldn't find a site that was for natural... My huge problem/question was if I shouldn't use wax, then what DO I use to start my dreads. As far as I understood everything I should palm roll as often as possible, I should backcomb (I've never even heard of crochet or t&r) separate daily wash every 3-4 days, clockwise rubbing on the scalp and tips, and use wax the first time. I wasn't going to do it at all because I was so confused about how I could possibly start them without wax. When I moved, I typed in Ottawa Dreads in Google and found someone who would start my dreads without wax, I thought I was saved and that this was some kind of new development or something, I thought it was perfect and everything was great. If only I researched a little longer I would've come across this site. *sigh.

Any college that does Japanese courses. She's really into Japanese culture and she said that ONLY Seattle has Japanese courses. I find that hard to believe but it may be true. She started learning Japanese a month or so ago and she's a quick learner but the degree is for Japanese is a four year course. Sux...I don't think I can live in a big city for that long. =( Sorry for taking so long to reply, we went for a walk.

What kind of college does she want to go to? Lots of small cities and large towns have community colleges. I'm sure you can find a middle ground that suits both of you.

Vancouver is amazing! I lived in Bellingham for 5 years, so that was just a skip away. Knottysleeves said:
I live in the Canadian portion of the Pacific NW (Vancouver Island). I love it. I moved here in my early 30s after living in big cities my whole life... after my first couple months here I knew I would never live in "the big city" again. It's a totally different pace of life.

GG- Port Angeles is magical. It doesn't rain like Seattle does, you have the bay, the Olympics right behind you, sailing, crabbing, & down to earth people. Enjoy the NW, I miss it every second I'm gone. GreyGargoyle said:
How'd you like Port Angeles? I'm moving up to Washington next year. I can't wait.
Might go to either Port Angeles, Olympia or something else in Clallam county Washington.

thanks! where is the gathering this year? i have actually yet to make it to one and would love to. my dreads are really dry lately, ever since i left the islands.a bear, huh? well sounds like he is being far from cruel to this animal, given the cuddling and all! sounds a bit like a tom robbins plot if you ask me...blessings soaringeagle said:
welcome
if u can u should comne by the gathering since your so close
and
well
palm rolling and root rubbing are pointless at best and counrterproductive and dammaging at worse
id suggest u stop it all only seperate nothing else
the loose hairs will dread on theyre own given time and if u stop messin with em
wax use even once is bad id recomend u try the wax removal at top of front page just to be safe (they'll dread much faster too without the residues from wax) same goes for that gel u got use that only as a conditioner only when your really dry and brittle

the best thing u can do for your dreads is stop mesing with em almost entirely
only seperating is recomended

oh since u fo animal cruelty stuff you'll be interersted to know the guy im caravanning to the gathering with is bringing his bear, hes been trained by a shaman to befreind wild animals and everytime he walks in the woods new ones follow him home hes living with a bear 15 beavers 12 chipmonks 8 otters an owl a few foxes the bear some deer turtles snakes umm i forget what else he wants to give me some beavers..the bear is a cuddle bear he takes her to day care centers and lets kids ride on her back
and he sleeps on a couch cuddling with the bear
it'll be interesting on a troad trip if we get pulled over "can i search your vehicle?" "sure officer but dont annoy my bear she gets grouchy around guns"

Aloha all!I haven't really had any dread advice or guidance and I am nearing their birthday!about my dreads: I have thin wavy hair. Backcombing to form them, that was the only time wax was used. I have done a little bit of crocheting (hated it!), lots of palm rolling and root rubbing. Used mostly sea salt/lavender oil spray and diluted Bronners. I have only 27 dreads, but now have so much loose hair between hoping to eventually turn that into a few more. I love my hair and want it to be in top shape at its birthday.about me: I'm from the Pacific Northwest. Used to work for Greenpeace, but quit to travel and live in the jungle in Hawaii. Temporarily I'm in Cincinnati coordinating a petition drive to stop animal cruelty on factory farms. After this, its a long road trip around the states, then back to the islands for the winter. I'm impulsive, idealistic, stubborn and my astrological birthday profile says I'm a"reluctant profit"cheers and thanks for the support!cole

Favorite Place to live...

Alternative Lifestyles and Subcultures

cda may just be perfect for you as long as you can deal with tourists. the lake is BEAUTIFUL, there is an underground feel among the youthful crowd, and that is where i was when i started my dreads. pretty cheap. some great little houses near downtown. i was only there for the summer though, and personally highly dislike the cold so i would never stay year round. the beginning of fall sure was splendid though. i'm from the pacific northwest (port townsend wa)- nothing beats that place.
