I have always loved the look of dreadlocks. My husband and I started our dread journey around the same time. For me it has a lot to do with learning patience. I have been trying for years to live as peacefully as I can (I used to be very angry a lot of the time) and I needed to learn patience. You have to be patient with dreads bc they do not always do what you want them to. I also like having them along side my husband since it connects us even more.

Not dread related but I am so scared I am gonna lose my little brother.... Help!

No advice on the drugs...seems like you have really got a lot of support for your brother. I hope this turns out well and he gets on the right path soon But I would make sure you have a formal letter written (maybe even notarized) as an "eviction notice" to his girlfriend. In our state you have to give them at least 30 days but until one is issued and since she has been living there law enforcement may not be able to just "kick her out" for you. Although if you mention the drugs they would probably take care of that problem

How Long should my hair be before i start dreading it?

What method are you using? Backcombing is not the greatest and you will lose a LOT of length. The first time I got dreads my hair was past my shoulders and just under my neck when they got tight. Although I have pretty nappy hair I used the twist and rip this time and my hair has barely shrunk at all and they look nice for just getting them.The natural route is really best but I just am not patient enough haha its one of my faults

My husband cut off his first set that he used wax in and he still has them

I agree with all of this. Its hard for me to explain to people that dreads are not all about "hair style" a lot dont realize there is something very spiritual about having dreadlocks
