"Metalhead" and "Hippie's"

Alternative Lifestyles and Subcultures

Yeah thats pretty fair it's safe to say those to bands do not. Cause I mean Behemoth is all about being against the christian god. Most of there albums and songs have something to do with that. Ex: Christians to the Lions decent song but it's a good summary of the band.Nile is just like Hey have you guys heard about Egypt. Egypt..... Egypt. But i mean look and Cannibal Corpse imo Death Metal would not be the same with out them. Chris barnes the orignal singer is a huge cannabis activeist sorry about my spelling. He now how long ass dreadlocks. And talks about how the goverment is fucked up and how were big bussiness is screw'n up the earth...It's kinda the reason i started this thread.

O yeah i know that agonist my band had a show with them once, it was pretty sweet. It was a while ago though we broke up. Bobbi said:
hey thanks for showing this band. I'm gonna check out their music for sure. I like their philosophy. My new favorite metal band right now is The Agonist. You should check them out on YouTube. If you watch some of the interviews you'd probably get a hint of what you get from Decrepit Birth.

Yeah well i guess, to me metal is kinda like Tom of Ayra from slayer said. A reflection of society and they pick up the dark reflections. I don't think slayer thinks Murder is "cool" or anything like that maybe a cool subject topic or something. I think people that like metal music would like peace and what not. Just we go about talking about the worlds problems in a different way.SE no, i don't really think it made them seem like Hippies more that i saw similarites. And it's not just with this band.Haha but last night i was kinda bored it was the only thing on my mind. So it's not to big of a deal

I Don't like anyone putting me in a box like so i don't mean to do that with either of those terms but anyway.Me and a friend were talking about how in metal dreadlocks are worn a lot and how that it's kinda strange sence it's mostly thought of with "Hippie's" Then i got to thinking maybe "Metalheads" and "Hippie's" have more encommon then i thought. This hole thought came about when i heard of the band "Decrepit Birth" listened to a a few songs i dig'em. Then looked up a interview. This is what i found
If you got the time check it out. I would just like to hear if any one else thinks there similarity's between the to cultures. =D

So did yo go natural the second time? Alisha Peederpants said:
i shaved my first set off and started from scratch. It has taken A LOT of patience but I like the difference. When I dreaded my first set it shrunk way up and the dreads kept getting fatter. On this set they have stayed somewhat the same size just thickend a lil as the dreads matured but the length has never shrunk it actually seams to be growing out sooo fast. I'm very happy with this set and don't foresee ever cutting my hair again. Hope that helps I have pics of my old set and my bald do and my new set if that will help. Good luck.

well, it's like i read on this site once if you go for the TnR method or backcomb then you end up thinking about every hair thats not locking i mean i guess if you go natural it's just kinda all a hot mess. I don't know i have not tried so i can't say if i like it. GreyGargoyle said:
You're contradicting yourself...

You want to go natural but you want neat hair. You want to start natural but you haven't decided on when. Now is the best time! The hair that you are going to have is going to be perfectly new healthy grown hair with no bad pasts of being brushed or washed with chemicals. You have the perfect opportunity to dread, man. The whole thing with you wanting to dread naturally but wanting neat hair just won't go together though, haha.
Good luck though. No offense but your parents sound like pricks. Seriously who the hell says "your hair looks like shit" to their child, wow. Move out and grow dreads.

yeah i prolly should have, but the way i look at it now is. I have a chance to go natural from the start if i decide to and i mean i don't mean to sound shallow or anything but like i did want my hair to look neat. Like all the loose hair was kinda crazy.

I have been thinking about it for a while and there is a post on how i was thinking of doing the natural method. But i have had long hair for such a long time now i just don't know if i want to do it. I know when it comes down to it it's my choice on what to do with my hair. But I was just wondering what some other people thought about it. Maybe some one else has done the same thing and has some helpful inisght for me!

Second time around! wax free dreading

General Talk

Well the first waxy set lasted about 5 to 6 months it was somwhere in between there. And well i guess if i were to compare i would have to say there is more loose hair this time but the dreads that are lock'n are lock'n up super tight and they feel and look great
