LICE HELP!!!

Dread Maintenance

when i had lice a few yrs ago i saturated my hair with normal cooking oil fora few hours (with a shower cap on my head), then i washed my hair, allowed to dry and saturated it with white wine vinegar and kept it there for a few hours, then washed as normal.

the little bastards completely disappeared.

the oil suffocates them, the vinegar dissolves the substance that keeps the eggs attahed to the hair.

you may repeat this after a couple of weeks just to keep on the safe side.

hope this helps, good luck!

Loctician dreads vs natural dreads: my journey and my (strong) opinions

heyya's .. as per usual I guess I am not like most people because I still don't agree with the now forever been around term of natural dreads .. but like most posts here , when I take the time to read along some positive opinions and thoughts eventually come forward ... for instance the term loctician might be better stated as mocktician? OK so maybe not all that positive but it would be cool to coin a phrase I bet :D

Loctician dreads vs natural dreads: my journey and my (strong) opinions

Dreading Methods

mmmhhh im not sure i agree with you 100% there dreadlocklady.

in a way i hear your words, but my experience was different. even though i started my dreads with oune of the worst methods (crochet.. i was in thailand after all, it is mainstream there) i never felt like an outcast. in fact i got very good avdice on how to make my dreads healthy again (they're good now, but if i didnt find this website i probably would buy into that crochetmaintenance lie).

i think above all this is a place for passionate advice and strong opinions, but that is often the case with people that believe strongly in something.

we're all here for the love of dreads =)

everyone's experience and sensitivityare different i guess tho

much loveto you

Any suggestions for methods on extensions and/or volume..

Dreadlock Styles and Dread Styling

hello Izzy-licious!as far as i know, the only way to add volume to dreads is to wait and let them fatten up. how long have you being dreading? i've had mine for about 3 months and they have def gotten fatter in the last month or so. as for lenght, any loctician will be able to give you extensions. but just be sure to ask them how they're going to do it, so that they dont mess your hair up. maybe you could go with temporary extensions, that you can remove once your hair has grown a bit?good luck and dont worry too much, you look fantastic!

Vegetarian, to be or not to be?

Dreads and Diets

wow 26 yrs is a long time, that's so good, im impressed.this is how i make my chana masala (chickpea curry), the easiest of currysi put some oil and butter in a pan and throw in a large chopped onion . when it's cooked and soft i put in a can of chopped tomatoes and a can of chickpeas on top of that, a teaspoon of coriander powder , one of turmeric powder , one of cumin seeds (you can fry them beforehand) and a tablespoon of chana masala powder, salt and pepper. let it cook for a few minutes until it's thick.thats all! easy and quick and yum-yum.i'm making butter masala paneer for dinner, i'll let you know how it goes and if it's good i'll post the recipe Nothing will benefit human health and increase chances for survival of life on Earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet. ~Albert Einstein soaringeagle said:

hi Jo, im new to the forum and i've only just found this thread. so how did it go?
long story short, i've been a veggie for about 3 yrs now, and i've never looked back. there are always people trying to challenge your choice, but remember, you dont ever have to justify yourself to anyone. be a veggie if you feel that's what's right for you. if you find the transition hard, you could cook lots of indian food, it's really easy and rich and sooo yummy you really wont miss meat at all (message me if you want some recipes).
good luck =)

hello everyone!
first of all thanks for all the good advice and inspiration. i had my dreads made in thailand with a crochet hook.. i have to admit that, i really didnt know any better, i thought all methods were the same and the crochet was simply the thai way of locking hair.. how wrong i was. i havent done anything to my dreads since apart from palm rolling. wax never seemed like a good idea to me.. yuk yuk. my question is: will my dreads become REAL dreads if i just let them be? or should i start over? i've noticed they're becoming thinner with every wash. any advice? peace to you all
