A couple of questions!

General Questions

Well i'm glad my hair is a recommended type of the dreads! i actualy went too a salon once, they charged me 60 and wanted me to go back every 2 weeks with a further 30! i was agreeable at first, until i had a closer look at my hair and alls what they did was curly it and some how made the hair as hard as rock! i washed it out so fast and never went back, damn salons..

A couple of questions!

General Questions

This is day 4 of the neglect proccess and i know, it's waay too early for dreads too appear but i'm just wondering how often i should wash it and what drying mehtods too use?I usualy wash my hair 1 a day. I haven't washed my hair for 4 days straight now, i'm worried i might mess up the proccess. One last question, here is my hair up to now... is my hair too short to start the neglect method? is my hair type an effective type for decent dreadlocks? Many thanks!

I like the sound of that! here is a picture of the curlyness of my hair, although my hair is waayy shorter than what it is in the picture. http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash1/hs278.ash1/20544_306791719713_624234713_4470923_2952470_n.jpg Lisa McRae said:
Super tight curly hair dreads pretty fast. natural dreads usually mature between 6-12 months. I've seen some that have a lot of progress in 3 months. With your hair type you won't have too long to wait :)

yeah, ive been worrying about that part also. i would be lost with the sectioning for the sizes, my hair is kinda short atm. would it be beast if i waited until my hair was longer or start the neglect method straight away? soaringeagle said:
tight curly hair will dread fast but depends on other factors too like oilines if u run fingers thru it alot or even how u sleep
but
noone can predict natural dreads speed it can be weeks or months
if its short its slower if long faster (in general)

im betting yours will dread fast from the description
but u might have to be extra careful to seperate so u dont get huge dreads

I like the tribal look of dreads and is why i want dreads, i want hair that is different and wild, just like dreads! Knottysleeves said:
"Perfect" dreads are ones that make their owner happy. :-)

Some people want dreads just because they like the style. They don't care about "the process" and are willing to gunk them up with wax and spend hours every week palmrolling and doing maintenance, etc. Nothing wrong with that, if that's what you think will make you happy.

No matter what path you take though, it's important to educate yourself and be realistic. If you have very firm expectations about how you want your dreads to look once they've matured, or want to develop dreads that look just like another person's, you will probably be disappointed. Dreads are unique, and trying to force & control them (with products, maintenance or destructive tools like the overpriced crap DHHQ sells) will drive you crazy and is a huge waste of time and effort.

Of coarse, the picture of SE up there (Guy with super long past his feet dreads) is 100% neglect. We promote free and healthy dreads here.

So your saying natrual dreads is the perfect choice? DreddieFreddy said:
just look around on this site a bit more and you'll see the truth about salon "dreads" and wax schemes like dreadheadhq. they arent the dreads you want. unless you don't want the locs to last...
