Salt water for my dreads?

Dread Products

i use sea salt mixed with warm water, lavender oil, and tea tree oil in a spray bottle ... it helps alot ...be aware though ... don't spray it near your scalp ... the salt can irritate badly ... AND today when i was going through my hair the solution that got on my hands left me with what looked like a chemical burn ... my knuckles were so red and burning! so see, you definitely don't want to get it on your scalp. :)going to the beach is a whole nother story ... i never had a problem with the salt on my scalp

Introduce Yourself

My name is Jacque, i'm 27 and i live in NY. I came to the site when I was trying to find out what other people with dreadlocks use to wash their hair. Mine are almost 6 months old and love to give me a hard time! Let's see .... i love art and music ... i work as a make-up artist and my fav. is to do character work.I have always admired dreadlocks since i was sooooo lil' and had a raggedy ann doll :P .... so finally i said fawk it! .... i don't care what people think, it's me who has to wear my shoes! ehuh?I hope to get to know more of u ... !! <3

Aloe vera on dreads, does it smell?

Dread Maintenance

it has a really strong smell when its wet .... and tastes worst! (keep ur fingers our of ur mouth)haha ... but afterwards it doesn't smell at all .... annnnd actually, for me, if i'm going out i'll use a little from the leaf on each lock to give them a nice finish .... but also because i think it also freshens the smell of your hair too .... like from foods, smoke, enviro., etc. ...it's good stuff! :)

College

General Talk

i went for language and dropped out .... i went to college for fashion design and merchandising and more than halfway through it i dropped out .... so than ... after a few years .... i went to school for culinary .... which i actually finished ... but neither of them is what i doin between those times i signed up for different schools at least a dozen more times lolthan i thought to myself, i just don't think it's for everyone ... which i truly believe !! sometimes, a degree doesn't accurately measure a persons aptitude.now i want to go back to school and i don't know what i'll study. since i was VERY young i wanted to join the peace corps ... so that is a big part in my motivation now.we'll see :P

BUILD-UP HELP PLEASE.

Dread Maintenance

def. listen to SE and start using the baking soda .... it is amazing!! take the yarn out and being you have wavy/curly hair i wouldn't bother backcoming ... if your roots are starting to lock ... your hair is already sectioned ....take the yarn out .... only do the baking soda wash and mix some sea salt and water and spritz ur hair every few days and give a little palm roll ... they will start to lock sooooooooo fast!!if you backcomb ... i promise you they will start to unravel first anywayz ... than begin to lock ... so if you skip that your hair will just start to lock first ... that can save you almost 2 months of messiness ...salt and water is the best way to speed up the knotting! :)
