dreads predate money so why spend money for dreads

Dreading Methods

I totally agree with this. The only thing that's even helped my dreads a little are sea salt water and lemon juice. Which would be easy easy easy to get naturally. But on the same rational, you could say why spend money on food, clothes, land, blah blah blah.

My dreads in nature?

Dread Maintenance

Yeah, I won't use soap. It's a leave no trace super earth friendly event, and I think I'd get lynched if I tried to put chemicals in the water haha.I'll try to convince her to do that. Now I wish I had let mine naturally form :/ soaringeagle said:

My dreads in nature?

Dread Maintenance

In a week I'm leaving to go on a camping trip(the alchemy burn in Georgia) and this is the first time I've been camping with my dreads. Soooo anyone who has, how dirty do they get? There's no showers and stuff down there, and I have a feeling they're going to get naaaaasty. So any tips for keeping them clean? I also am backcombing someone else's hair while I'm down there so any help is twice as good :D

Whats up dreadheads?

Introduce Yourself

It depends on your hair type. My hair doesn't get oily, so it still knots up if I didn't wash it. And actually, the only time it itched was after showers.Go figure.Everybody's hair is different I guess. But I wash them semi-often and they're about the same.

Whats up dreadheads?

Introduce Yourself

I'm Nick, from Nashville, and I've been growing dreads since early may.I backcombed them, and bought knotty boy wax to use but I never did. I decided to do it naturally after I did some reading on the internet. Which turned out to be a good idea. The only thing I did to them was about once or twice a month soak them in lemon juice and sea salt water. I didn't wash them for the first 4 months either xD Now I wash them once every couple weeks with tea and baking soda. They've been coming out pretty OK, I should have pics up sometime soon :D

Any suggestions for separating dreads?

Dread Maintenance

Either way works. I guess the natural path is better :D

Any suggestions for separating dreads?

Dread Maintenance

Yeah if it's one big dread it'll be a pain in the ass to separate. But it it's two, just pull them apart. Or if you're worried about being tough on your hair you could gently pull the hairs connecting them apart, then sew them into the right dread. I used to have to separate all my dreads every day, but they're starting to mature and I don't really have to anymore.

Weirdest method you've heard of.

Dreading Methods

Yeah they used regular clay. They were like rocks. I helped him get it out, but it was a bitch to do.
