What should "Twist And Pin" dreads look like?

Dreading Methods

No problem keep with the wax removal techniques that are on the site and u should be able to get most of it out most important thing is that you don't use again, I don't think u have any intentions to hey a great site to go to is h4d.com they have great information on there for dreads

I got confusedby the term "bundles" that made me imagine some interlocking or something like that. I'm not too concerned about damaging my hair and scalp because the twisting didn't seem that tight and I don't intend to do it nearly as often as the girl in the video I posted. After the intial twisting I left it alone for a month before a re-twist because my hair wasn't locking. Sadly that's when wax was added to my hair. I might go back in another month, but making sure to talk to them about the waxing problem. Once my hair stops unravelling I shouldn't need to twist again (I was told some people need 4 sessions but I doubt I will).

To tha tron, thank you so much for posting!!! You have no idea how much you've reassured me.

That salon I went to did seem to focus more on braids, but dreads weren't completely alien to them. The salon didn't put any wax in my hair the first time I went, and I'm not sure why they chose to the second time. I did the wax removal technique on this site and the ACV (undiluted) easily removed most of the wax. Too bad the stuff that didn't come out still isn't responding to anything, I don't wanna try the deep cleaning again for a few days cause I'm worried it might affect my scalp to do it too often.

Thanks everyone.

you find that when you go to a solon to someone who typically braids hair they have very little knowledge. the first set of dreads that I got the lady did my hair much the same way that yours were done I knew what you meant by the bundles it's not damaging to the scalp at all it actually has you leaving he salon with curly "dreads". not damaging to the scalp. she did use wax per my instructions and I brought it in for her to use. If not I don't know what she would have used. you hair will be totally fine you want to use , almond oil, jojoba oil, those are the some that I can think of off hand because they can be easily absorbed and break down in water so they washed out when wash. just moisturize after you wash, baking soda and then an acv rinse once a week your good.

MY NEW JOURNEY (2nd Set TnR)... combed out 7months of Crochet n Interlocking

Introduce Yourself

it sucks that you had to start all over. IMO I think that you would have just let them be from this point on and not interlock or crochet anymore. combing them out was probably worse on your hair/ but congrats all the same can't wait to see the progress.

If You Ever Used the Crochet Method

Dreading Methods

This method can be harmful due to the dread wearer becoming obsessed, I think this is where the damage occurs. I have used this method don't know exactly what size I used

making people see the "dready" light

General Talk

The only reason for the twisting is to add moisture to the locks I use shea butter

making people see the "dready" light

General Talk

started my cousins dreads a couple months back. started with T & R, maintain with twisting and do a moderate amount of interlocking. Im going to taper off with that though because he has great progress everytime he comes over to get a "touch up". He rocked braids for years and years and said that he would never get dreads lol, Id always suggest it and he was always right to the point with his answers "No" after a while the person that did his braids was no longer in contact with him. he sent me a text message and said "Im thinking about getting dreadlocks" I said "cool, I'll be glad to start them for you but I want you to take a month or so to make sure that is what you want to do" pretty close to a month later he said he was ready to start them. He absolutely loves them!! now his mom at the beginning was a little upset with me saying that he looked like a "wild child," they are so big, he needs to cut his hair and all kinds of other non sense, I kind of got upset at first which was one of the main reasons I was doing the interlocking method at first. I think maybe two weeks ago she said "I don't know what you are doing to his hair but it looks a lot better" I told her that it was mainly time... I cant take too much credit you know lol.

Lil Wayne dreads

Introduce Yourself

exactly they are locked not just twisted. twisted just a method that is usually used to maintain african texture hair. I agree there is probably some interlocking involved to maintain the roots.
