Can you post a picture? I hear a lot of people have a sebum issue going on with their dreads....If you use a towel some of it could be lint from the towel. Barrellady always recommends that if you do towel dry to use a towel close in color to your hair. I am still new to dreads but I hope this helps and maybe someone here can help you more. that would make a lot of sense because the towels i use are blue tan and white, and my pillow case is tan. Thank you! Since it is not smelly I am not too concerned about it. It just seemed like a lot of stuff in my hair and I wanted to make sure it wasn't some type of mold or mildew.

Today I cut off a dread in order to make a shaved spot on the side of my head. Out of curiosity I decided to cut it open to see what it looks like on the inside. I was a bit disturbed. My dreads are a year old but I take pretty good care of them. I wash them with residue-free dread shampoo (from dreadlockshampoo.com) and yesterday I did a 30 minute bs/teatree oil soak followed by a 5 minute acv soak. When I cut the dread open there was lots of white-ish fuzzy stuff (not EXACTLY fuzzy, but the best word i can think of) on the inside. Some of the fuzz was a yellowish color, some a grayish blue color.There was also lots of small whitish yellowish specks in there too. My hair doesn't smell and I honestly can't tell if it is dead skin, fuzz and lint, or some type of mold or mildew. My best GUESS at this point is a combo of dead skin and fuzz. But there was SO much in there! almost just as much fuzz as hair. And the other thing was that the bottom half of the dread didn't have it, just the top half did. This is the one thing that is making me think it is from my scalp (dandruff, etc) PLEASE HELP! I am panicking because I want my hair to be clean, not full of junk. I'm not sure if this is dread rot or what. Is there a way I can tell what is going on?

Extensions! Help!

Okay guys, my dreadies are turning a year old in about 2 weeks! I'm pretty excited. I'm also very excited because festival season is almost upon us! This summer I don't have a job where I have restrictions on my hair so I really want to add some colorful extensions to the ends of my dreads for fun for the summer. I know its not "natural" and whatnot and that is not my concern here. I am wondering if any of you have experience trying to take extensions out? I really just want them for the summer, and I'm wondering if there is a way I can sort of loosely sew them on or crochet them a bit in a way that won't destroy my ends if I want to take them out VERY carefully and slowly. My other option would be to cut most of them out and just leave the ends of my hair colorful or something. Is there no hope for this dream of mine? Tell me about your extension experiences!

I havent colored my hair in a very long time and I have naturally very light blonde hair. I'm wondering if anybody has reliable recipes for non-permanent hair color? I just wanna spice things up for a bit, anywhere from a week to a couple months or whatever but I DON'T want to permanately color my hair and lose my awesome natural blonde color! Anybody have recipes for color that will come out FOR SURE? I was thinking a light brownish reddish. Or something in that general area of color. I saw there was a link for the dreadlock dye guide but for some reason when I click it it doesn't work.

Does wrapping individual dreads hinder the process if they are new?

I am thinking about wrapping a dread or two with embroidery thread or something of the like and I am wondering if this will hurt the dreading process at all since the hair won't be able to move around as much? Should I just wait until they have matured more? Because right now it seems they are different from week to week.

im not confused about it, i was just using a lot of shampoo to get all the parts of my head. i use just 4 dreads (dreadlockshampoo.com). from what i know and have researched there are no harmful ingredients or any residues. and yes a body puff! couldn't think of what it was called.

So I've been having a hard time lately with getting shampoo evenly distributed throughout my hair and getting it to suds and lather up on my head without using a ton of it. I finally found this awesome way of doing it that I have not seen on here yet and thought It'd be good to tell others. I started lathering my shampoo on a sponge and then using the sponge to get the suds onto my hair. This way I can use a much smaller amount of shampoo on my hair. The sponge I use is one of those that are made of that stretchy mesh material that is sort of crumpled into a ball (not sure what they are called). I haven't noticed any real problems yet such as more tangled hair or anything. Anybody feel free to let me know what you think of this!
