shrinkage.... dreads of course!

General Questions

for me, i think mine is shrinking because my hair is very long. like...almost 2ft when i started. therefore, when i sleep, the ends fish-hook. meaning, about 6 inches of hair at the end, turns upward into a U shape almost....but more like a hook. what happens next? other hair gets caught in there, more loops and hooks forms, AND NOW I HAVE WADDED UP DOODOO DREDS! ok. venting. but seriously I've got like 5 dreds that are just wadded up to about 5-6 inches long, and look like a hairy turd. lolololol. you can't see the ends of my hair, cuz they're all caught up in there. its been frustrating to me, because i like my hair long. and i'm only 4 months in....i said 5 somewhere else, my bad, its 4.point is, i honestly think my length is responsible, since its easier to tangle, and those tangles are harder to undo b/c they get pretty fkn serious, moreso than with shorter hair.dog on a long leash, fuck shit up. dog on a short leash, slow and boring. same concept sort of.

Ok I just can not get a good pic of it. But its hard to split, I may give up on that venture lol. I pulled someof the hair out straight (not all the way up the dred tho, and then a tiny bit on each side I did pull all the way out) can't really get anymore loose. Maybe what I pulled out will sort of redo itself and not be just wadded up.. I was splitting it cuz the section spans across the nape of my neck, but there's other little dreds nearby that could use that hair, and I don't really want a big fat dred down the middle of my neck. Idk maybe it would be cool. Lol. Im trying not to interfere too much, I did what I could, guess illsee how it goes from here. Didn't know there was a"shrinking dreds" group either lol, will check it out. thx SE for reassuring. Id rather have all super different length dreds than to have them all be short tho. Just my personal preference for myself. If they all end up short...well by then ill be so far into it who cares. Thx!

Help? Im almost 3 months in (yay!) And for the most part, my dreds are doing great, loose hair, don't care, I know everything is going pretty good.BUT. ive got 3-4 super dreds at the back of my head (probly where I sleep) that are consuming themselves?I mean theres basically no wispy ends, the dreds have eaten most of it up into the dred. Awesome right? Im not sure. Especially since my hair is quite long, halfway down my back, but these particular dreds stop just slightly below my neck. Huge difference. Is this 'normal'? I wonder if the rest of my hair will catch up and do the same?Crazy random dreds are great, but I don't want my hair this short! What the hell! I mean ive lost at least 6 inches on these...Also at the nape of My neck, a super looped up tightass wad of a dred is there where I used to have longer hair, and this wad is like 5 inches long. I started just taking that one apart...trying to split it or something cuz its alit of hair, and I just don't really care forthe giant wad. I know I know, natural is s best but I really don't like that one.The others, I love, but wonder what the future holds, why so much shrinkage, will my other hair do that, is there a way tokeep it from getting so short,I wanted mydreds long like my hair, or at least close. Is this a normal phase of them?Any info or ppl who can relate would be awesome

thx everyone soo much. yea ive been touching up less and less as i see it doesnt really do much after the first 2 days of doing it i guess i was doing it cuz i do have some great ones going, which i never touch, so when the other just get too loose i was doing it to also keep them separated. i get alot of loose hairs, which doesnt bother me, but when the "dreads" become undistinguishable im like aaaaah no! you get back over there and you! over there! patience patience patience. as for the acv, im only doing that as needed for now, maybe more later as they mature some. but if my scalp is happy, and hair is happy, no acv. know hwats weird??? ive left my bangs out, not dreading them, and it seems thats where my scalp gets the worst. stupid normal hairs. ugh.

OK, first off i hope im not being tooooo repetitive with these ?s, it would take forever to look up everything one topic at a time. Im just over month 1 (yay!) of officialy T&R my super stubborn silky straight hair. For them only being a month, personally i think they look amazing and really need to post some pics asap. Have a few concerns though, anyone relating to or having any input....awesome.

1. ACV rinse...do i have tooooo??? I only wash with bs+oils...usually. and this is 1-2x a week, as Im conditioning my scalp which is going quite well. sometimes i'll do one bs/oil wash and one diluted dreadsafe shampoo (sprayed w/spray bottle to get the scalp clean, then rinsed), still just 2 washes a week tho. ABOUT DANDRUFF...ive always had a slight issue with this, which is clearing up, and the ONE acv rinse ive done in my 1st month seemed to help ALOT, but made my hair very soft, even tho i used very little. i'll have to adjust to even less if i get the courage to do it again. THE ??: if my scalp is ok and not really any itchies or dandruffs, and hair not brittle, do i HAVE to do acv??? cuz i really dont like to, dont want to. what happens if i never do, assuming i dont really need to as far as the dandruff is concerned (i.e, if its gone) can i just bs+oil wash and then use aloe in a spray now and again??? wouldnt it double as a lock accelerator annd moisturizer in one??? seems like my hair truly doesnt need moisturizer tho. never used to use conditioner till i started coloring my hair, and i havent even done that in like 2 yrs. im telling u this hair is stubborn with the silkness.

2. i separate best i can, but dont want to pull so hard that i break sections apart. my dreads are too new to be having breakage. at the same time, i feel a couple trying to eat each other anyway. ive got 3-4 cannibal dreads that im constantly supervising. i dont want to end up with a big problem, but is it easier to rip/pop them apart later on as long as this merging isnt CoMpLeTeLy outta control? i dont wanna break em! not now. should i worry??? also cant really see the back of my head that well so its hard to judge whilst separating, which hairs should be with which crazy dread. i do my best.

3.....silky straight hair is very stubborn. i know they will unravel some before truly locking up, but some try to get ridiculous on me. i have re-T&R to touch them up many times. is this bad??? im not doing it all the way up, but if i have more than 6" of hair that is rebelling and becoming baby soft and straight, i re-T&R the super str8 part to keep em in line. (mind u my hair is like 1.5 feet long at least)is this very damaging?? im not over here like ripping the hell outta my hair, but i do touch up every few days...being very careful about putting any stress on the roots, dont wanna end up with dreads popping off my head down the road.

4. beads! i put some wooden beads in but apparently their weight combined with my being a violent sleeper...well i found them in my bed. the bead holes werent very big at all, i def want my dreds to be fatter than that. so if i put a bead on, and boy do i have some knots that will keep them on....during the day....will said bead affect dread size??? or will it just get fat above and below the bead???? unfortunately even with some big fat personality knots i have going on that will def hold a bead, my tossing and turning is so serious it rips them out of my hair anywaay. not putting them back for awhile cuz im scared what effect it might have on such newlydreads but plz let me kno about the bead/ dread size relation, if any

just had to point out that this doesnt make sense. i did not equate them with adulteres, i said its the same as tealing even, hell, you could say its the same as me being a pathological liar or an insanely greed-filled person, which im neither, but theyre all sins according to christianity, and what im saying is that the bible also does not put any one sin as being worse than the other, and the point of that part of the discussion is too basically say that "christians" picketing someones funeral because they are gay need to go figure out what makes them so perfect, cuz if theyre not gay, theyre definately guilty of some other sins, its just a fact, nobody on earth is sinless. and that being said, since the bible says that it is sin and IF you beleive the bible you should approach it as such and try your best to repent. im not bashing gays, what im saying is that if you are gay and you are a christian you have to be honest with the bible and what it says and what it says is turn and repent of ALL sins, not just one or the other, so no im not judging, if you perceive it as such than im also judging myself as well, and if thats the case, its not like im telling u about a spec of wood in your eye while ive got a plank in my own. it would be more like me saying dude, youve got a 2x4 in your head, so do i, we should fix this...i suppose when i made my very first reply to this discussion it was to address the issue of ppl saying gays cant be christian or that christian ppl have a right to hate gays, and so forth, and to give some bible based information that ppl who are not christians may have not heard, and to allow for reasoning why this issue is even an issue in the church. the reason christians have some sort of problem with it is because the bible says its a problem, BUT, its not any greater a sin than the sins others are guilty of anyways, so these radical protesting "christian" groups need to get their facts straight, as well do you in saying that im judging. you must not be understanding what im saying. at all. a sin is a sin, and if you are a true christian you are called to repent, even if its a struggle, no matter what the sin may be. if you dont (and you are a bleiver, this doesnt pertain to those who give a crap less about the gospel or think its a crock of hooey) then you are being a christian who is picking and choosing what they like or dont like basically, and thats not right if you are a "true" christian, and its also how many of these radical groups get started. good grief ppl im not judging im just giving info coming from a non-radical christian who does love others, not hate, not judging, just saying if you call yourself a christian and you have a sin, a sin is a sin and to repent is to repent, very simple bottom line, and as a christian i will say that whatever your sin may be, if its a constant battle for you, its not my (or anyone elses) place to judge where you are in that battle, it is a personal issue that you and God can talk about on Judgement day (and again if you think the bible is shit, then that means nothing to you, but this is the perspective of a real life down to earth christian, and im putting it out there cuz it seems like all you all are used to is radical psycho pseudo-christians. ok so this tab was still open, here i am again but im really leaving now. just so you know any "christian" who feels this way, respecting someone more for at least just beleiving what they beleive regardless of morale, rather than a gay person, needs to check themselves. because if they are a christian and are reading their bible, it says (for those low-morale christians stated above) that it is better for them that they were in Sodom and Gomorrah, meaning basically that God would have more mercy on them had they been completely anti-God, no morale people, rather than for them to have been "christians" who lived like that. if that makes sense. im getting sleepy. closing the tab this time so i dont accidentally come back to this.

sorry if i skipped your question, of course not i wouldnt stone them, i would love them but in my house, they would be encouraged to repent, as we are christian and that is what we beleive, if my child could not ever overcome it it would never change how much i love them ever. she could come home for christmas with her girlfriend and they would be absolutely welcome at my table. we teach our kids what we can but ultimately they make their own decisions and you cant force anything.

also thx for your comments about the burning bush and snakes eating apples it honestly made me laugh, and im really not saying that in a negative/ sarcastic way

but, all that being said, i still have 100% faith in God, beleive what the bible says, and try to live my life accordingly, because i beleive, and if you dont, then you dont

i admit much of it may sound absurd. its a question of faith. there are questions of verbiage and misinterpretations as well. but aside from the issue of science being so darn scientific and disproving everything (again, a question of wether or not you have faith), i will say that science is not alway right. laugh if you will. but there are so many things that later on, even if its hundreds of years, scientists find something and they go...oh wait a minute, we didnt really get this right. and to this day, there is much that they cannot explain, not only on this topic but on many many others.

sorry i cant answer or explain all the absurd things the bible has to offer. (we are not meant to be omnicient in all things, only God is) i trust in God and His truth and dont really care if the bush talked or if it can be explained away as some guys dream or a metaphor. im a christian, therefor if the bible says that bush talked, it did. if youre not a christian, call me crazy, its fine with me. but do you ever wonder of even the possibility that the bible is not garbage??? i think we are all very spiritual beings and some ppl have their eyes closed and dont know it, and i dont mean spiritual as a synonym for religous or as to having an innate longing to be with God. i mean spiritual as in being able to recognize things of a higher power, feel a connection that cannot be explained, and it doesnt take eating mushrooms to have that.

also, women were very prominent in the bible not just inferior, many of them played very important roles whilst being considered the "weaker vessel", thats just a random note on something you said awhile ago.

ok im really done here now. unfortuantely for me most of what im saying is falling on deaf ears anyway, so none of it matters and im wasting my time. if you are set in your own beliefs that may be completely opposite from mine, then why should i discuss with you??? not being mean but then arent we both wasting our time?? we're not changing each other minds. open minded people often close their minds to God. Many ppl open to God unfortunately close their minds to the rest of the world. I am open minded but when it comes to my faith, i belive it 100%, and just because i think somone else is wrong, doesnt make me closed minded to them. and because maybe things i beleive seem absurd to someone else doesnt make me an idiot. we all have differnt beleifs, its the ppl who treat other differently or badly because of their differences that are closed minded. now im rambling i think but thats the last im saying on this
