Handcraft trades

General Talk

This isn't exactly a shop or a sale, but what if we just traded? For example, I crochet, but I don't have beads or cash. I sew, and a person may want a dress or a shirt, but they don't have cash; they do, however, have some other talent. So how about a trade/barter thread? We can all help each other, and still get what we need.

Are rubber bands a bad idea?

General Questions

The fabric ones should be fine, but spending lots of time with them tied back can hinder development. Using a bandana or something is even better, because it doesn't add stress to any specific area.

is it ok to use hairt ies to tie them back? like the fabric or silicone goodies?

Why Dreadlocks?

General Talk

I decided to dread for a multitude of reasons, not the least of which is that it's the best way I have to commemorate my best friend. In addition, I've always thought it was a beautiful style. When I was a chile, I would wrap my hair with thread, and hang bells and trinkets in it, wishing I had 'real' dreads. LONG before I ever learned about wax, etc., I've dreamed of dreads but thought I couldn't have them because it was an 'african' hairstyle, and that caucasian hair wouldn't dread.
