that's definately not a complete list, those ingredients won't make a soap...

They don't tell you what the vegetable base is in the burt's bees...if it's palm or coconut, i'd say it would work on mature dreads.

A natural made lye type soap should never have to add glycerin...that one's loaded with synthetics too. And Soaring Eagle is correct, that's a bit oil heavy for most dreads.

HELP! :( could use a little guidance from anyone who is generally spiritual.

General Talk

i see one huge flaw, you do good for the joy it brings to others, not for the benefits you mayreap. also, you speak of 'repeating until you get it right', perhaps it's 'repeated until you give everything you have to offer'. just a few thoughts...

Need helps, i have 4 weeks old crocheted dreads and decided to go natural :D

Help! Save My Dreads

as a recovering crocheter...let me say, they will work themselves out! (don't twist your roots though, if i understood that correctly, let them do their thing, twisting them will just leave you with some strange looking curls ending with dreads) the baking soda/acv wash method is what helped soften mine up the most. now i use a handmade soap much like one of the vendors sells in the crafter's group here. (dreadlockshampoo.com -it has some great stuff in it) time heals! just hang in there!

WHAT INGREDIENTS SHOULD I STAY AWAY FROM

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

stay away from coconut oil if you are allergic to coconut...it's the most cleansing of the oils and works best in any type of water...olive oil is usually too heavy for newer dreads, but seems fine if it's less than a third or so of the oils used. cocoa butter is definately too heavy unless you have very corse or ethnic hair, or unless it's used as less than about 5% of the total oils in the soap, same goes for shea butter...Natural soaps should never have to add glycerin, the saponification process creates it, mass produced soaps remove it during manufacture which is why they have to add it back ...

almost forgot, castor oil makes nice bubbles, but it's very conditioning. it should be way down on the list of ingredients also...

Dreadlockshampoo review

Dread Products

Lather is a chemical reaction that needs water though...but as long as it's working.

Shampoo for hard water & dreads

Dread Products

yep, any bars with a high coconut oil content should work great in hard water! (the beer don't hurt either)

Why is the community here so against maintained locs?

Dreading Methods

Just re-sharing this because her locs are such beautiful african locks without the twisting...anyone think they don't look taken care of?
