Seven months into twist and rip/back comb and my hair looks like a mop head and not at all like dreads..

Dread Maintenance

Back combed/twist and ripped seven-eight months ago and have been just letting it be, separating and washing once or twice a week. I can feel some dreads on the sides and front, but they are almost all about the thickness of half of a pencil, or thinner with just a couple being slightly larger

The back is almost entirely not dreaded, with just super slight signs of being not perfectly straight, most likely from having to wear a tam/bandana while I work (food production).

Does not look at all like dreadlocks just look like I have messy bedhair as it has for seven months.. this seems to not be normal in comparison to all of the timelines I have looked at, where people's hair gets passed this stage at month 3 or 4

Should I be palmrolling or something? I feel like I am missing something or doing something wrong

Seven months into back comb/twist and rip, not working

General Talk

Air drying or blow dryingIt's about as far down my back as I can reach, almost a foot in the back, bangs go right below my chinI work with food so so I have to have it tucked inSo I should not use Bronners? I had been using bs acv until a week or two ago

Seven months into back comb/twist and rip, not working

General Talk

Well it's been over seven months since I started my dreadlock journey, my girlfriend and I both started each other's hair and have been doing no maintence for the last seven months besides seperating. It doesn't seem to be working for my hair, while my girlfriends is starting to lock up and working. I have a couple dreadlocks that the middles of seem to be tightening in the front, but none are more then a centimeter or so wide, and lots of tiny (pencil lead thickness) dreads across the head. The back of my hair is entirely loose, with no signs of dreading. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or if it's going to go eventually, but it shows no sign of doing anything 'dread'-y. I wash it twice or so a week with diluted dr. Bronners (used to use bs acv but stopped due to fear it was messing them up. I wear a tam maybe 15 hours a week for a part time job, where the back is tucked into it. If anyone has ideas of what I could be doing wrong or if I should just continue to wait (I know SE will say wait, but I have been and very little has been happening), thanks

General Questions

thanks SE, and unluckily I don't have much choice about the hat, I was able to convince my manager to let me wear the looser one, but that's the best I can do

General Questions

I backcombed / TnR about four months ago from today, and it promptly made my hair look like a massive fluffy bush on my head, which was alright, just slightly annoying. Now it is almost exactly the same as how it was before, I can feel a couple slightly tightened up near the front of my head, but still loose at the last 3 inches or so of them. The sides are a little less tight and vey fluffy, and much of the back is completely undone, and entirely loose. My girlfriend whose hair I did the exact same way and at the same time, is much further progressed, much tighter, and not a giant fluff ball. At my job, I have to wear a hat, and I wear a large tam that is relatively loose but still ends up flattening them, so after a couple days of work they are all extremely flat. Any advice or knowledge?

peace and love

I get paid in a week- I'll put 30-40 in as soon as I do, and I should be able to put some money every month in too, nothing at this very moment though unluckily =[
