Issues at school

Dreadlocks Journey Emotional Support

if they are not threating to kick you out of school i wouldnt sweat it, i will keep rocking my dreads. I have a similar problem cuz im in the military and I freeform and i have had a few tell me to do something about my dreads cuz it dosent look professional, plus im not suppose to have dreads in the army but i do and I dont plan on getting rid of them. I have 9 months left in the army and im keeping my dreads and wearing them the way i want, now if it comes to them threating to kick me out then I may consider wearing a wig but until then im gonna rock my dreads the way i want and you should do the same

Shalom

Dread hats/Tams

Dread Accessories

Anybody know of any websites that have brim less/ no brim tams/dread hats? I have a few with brims but love the ones without brims. I've made a few no brim hats myself but have gotten lazy and would like to purchase some.

General Talk

Didnt know you could comb them out, everyone I know cut theirs. Maybe you have to cut them when you have african american hair.

dreadheadhq called rippoff and scam

Dread Products

WOW i was diagnosed back in 2005-2006 withseborrheic dermatitis. Didnt know SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate) could be the cause of it. I had it bad I had short hair and my whole scalp was white dandruff. I tried different dandruff shampoos and some stuff called scalpacin and it didnt work so finally i went to the dermotalogist and he told me I had a bad case ofseborrheic dermatitis. he tooks pix of my head to use in his seminar he was giving onseborrheic dermatitis. He said he never seen it so bad in African american. he said the cause of it was becuz of the water i was using to wash my hair the water was to hard at the time I was stationed in germany. He told me there was no cure it can only be treated. He prescribed me some shampoo and oil. I used the shampoo and oil up until 2009. as of 2010 my scalp is fine I have regular dandruff. started using only natural products on my scalp.

An idea I'd like to try with the baking soda wash

Dread Maintenance

Great to hear that you found a way to get it done. Do you like doing it this way or do you still want to try the spray bottle method? No i dont cover I just continually do the rinse for about 2 mins or until i get tired then rinse it out. I do the same thing with ACV.

I tried again today. Had a much better experience. i needed to bend forward more and keep my head down as much as possible while wiping my eyes in-between wipes. When I did that I didn't get any of the BS into my eyes. Does anyone cover their hair after putting the BS stuff in your hair?

I dont really have a probably of getting it in my eyes. every now and then it does get in my eyes but i wipe with a towel and keep going. You will have to experiment on how to pour it without gettin in your eyes so much. or lean back into the sink or tub instead of forward.

Okay, so I tried the bowl method. It worked well, but I had one major problem. I kept getting the BS mixture into my eyes. You know a way to keep that from happening because I'm thinking of wearing my lab goggles while washing my hair.

yea that guy in the video is a chef. but you can find some cheap big plastic bowls at walmart, kmart or some place like that. I use 2 plastic bowls, some times a glass jar for pouring and large plastic bowl for catching.

I like that guys videos. His dreads are so beautiful. I might try your method Mowriyah in the future (his bowls look like cooking bowls and I don't have easy access to those right now) but for now I'm going to just limit how much comes out with my thumb like how Baba Fats recommended. Thanks everyone; now I don't know have to go searching for a used spray bottle. :D

what i do is mix BS up in a small bowl and put a large bowl in the sink and pour the BS mixture over my dreads and let it catch in the large bowl then pour the BS mixture from the large bowl back in the small bowl and pour over my dreads again. here is a video of what im talking about.

Hope this helps peace....
