Trouble Dreading

Dread Maintenance

I actually just got some beads yesterday :) and ive been using the sea salt spray especially on that side. they've been locking a little bit but its taking them a lot longer than my left side. And yeah my hair has always kinda dreaded pretty fast, even when i wasnt trying to dread. So i gave up my brush and just let them do their thing :)

Time. :) more time. I am 7 months in and am just now seeing noticeable changes...I wish I would have seen ANY progress at 2 months. That's pretty awesome. You could always try some beads wraps or sea salt spray...

that micro thin dreads over 4 maybe 5 feet long

i think your freind doesnt have a clue

my hairs extremely thick but has many very thin dreads and that 1 micro dread

i know ppl with thin hair thick dreads thin hair thin dreads etc they dont just fall out when they mature unless u do somethingthat thins them and makes them break

was this freind interlocking twisting root rubbing or palm rolling crocheting etc doing anything that thins and weakens them

How should I care for my new dreads?

General Questions

what kind of soap should i use when i wash them?

Adam Kelly said:

Great, you shouldn't have any size issues. Just remember not to rebackcomb or anything. You will just set your hair back to square one. If they completely fall out, let them be. Wash 1-3 times a week and separate when the sections get bigger than 1 square inch or the dreads start to grow together.

How should I care for my new dreads?

General Questions

I honestly don't know. My hair has always just kinda dreaded up on its own. It sectioned itself out, i just took the sections and backcombed them. i finally decided to just go with the dreads since my hair is so rebellious to a brush anyways.

Adam Kelly said:

Oh yeah, and they probably will. It's totally normal. Just let them do their thing. They will lock back up by themselves. What size sections did you use? Were they all square and perfect?

How should I care for my new dreads?

General Questions

I didn't use wax. i heard it was really bad to use ondreads. I'm weary to wash them though...I feel like they're going to fall out.

Adam Kelly said:

I see you backcombed. Did you use wax? You should be able to wash 3 times a week. But if you used wax you have to remove it immediately or it can rot the inside of the dread.
