Hi and thank you. Im in Houston so we have moderately hard water i guess? Please excuse any errors, Im learning to use this app. I wash with Burts Bees grapfruit shampoo, is that ok? Also, i bleach my roots. Any tips for that? Im here to learn! Some of my 34 locks have begun to loosen. Help? And thank you for the welcomes! More to come as I learn app.

Welcome. If you're only palm rolling sporadically, don't bother. It doesn't actually help create lasting knots. it's just something for your hands to do. Take up a craft instead. Or play music (my favorite past time). if you palm roll enough to see progress, it's too much, and severely destroys your locks. The risk isn't worth it.

So what are you washing with? Like Barrellady said, with locks, you need to be more careful about what you wash with. Hard water is the bane of most locks, because many people love Dr. Bronners. but it's a castile soap, and castile soaps don't work well in hard water

Welcome to the community and to the best site on the web for dreadlocks and all the right information you will ever need to know. No need to do any palm rolling, it really only temporarily does something and does cause future damage to dreads. All you really need to do is keep them clean and separate the sections when they try to join onto each other. Out of curiosity, what is the good smelly stuff you use on yours?

Here is a map of the states, if you have soft water, you can use any type of dread shampoo or bar, but with hard water, many of those do not work properly and slowly leave behind a residue build up. If you need a fantastic product that works in hard water, all water types in fact, go to www.dreadlockshampoo.com

vickies stuff is amazing to use, smells fantastic and all natural....enjoy the rest of your journey, and share a pic of your dreads too....peace
