Maybe its just me but i dont feel the need for private profiles.This is one of the only sites I know that you can be and express yourself without judgement from people. By having a private profile its like your above others. Its like your so special you have to seclude yourself and only let the "worthy" view your profile.I can't even believe its an option they provide for people to have.Whats the point?What do you have to hide? If theres any good reason to have a private profile on such a beautiful forum like this I'd liked to hear it!Peace&Love

no not on here but those settings are for all communities on the ning network, all several million of them..and a few years back ning had an anything goes polocy, which allowed sites that were pornographic (polocy changed and all porn removed when google stopped allowing ads like those---> on porn sites and ning got all or most of its revenues from google adsanyway..back on traCK..LOL i can see how its smaRT to have that option on some sites on ning that maybe more questionableprivate profiles also hide ya from stalkers or others who try tracking you..for instance my best freind chevelle trant is in a nasty custody battle, and looking throug the logs i saw her name was used as search terms often to find the site..one other members been stalked in the past, and again found her name used as search termsprivate profiles do not get indexed in search engines..its not to hide from our members specificaly but to hide from a world ourside thats not always so freindly

i would say o have to agree on the statement that this is one of the nicer internet communities. some ppl on here may not agree with eachother on some issues but they dont harass you by leaving nasty comments on your page like some other sites are known for. so i would be suprised if someone on here had it set to private. only thing i could see someone having one on this site is if they have like a super posessive ex or something that has to do with outside of this site... but i love my family on here.

i think its great to bring a thought/opinion out in the open and discussing it with the community, rather than getting taken by discontentment. i too have run across a few pages that were private which really took me by surprise, since this is community seems to be so open and friendly. i was bummed out coming across these pages because i love seeing pictures of peoples locks, and find that this community lifts my spirits so incredibly high just from being around so much positive energy..but i also understand the privacy issues..i have my profile set to members only due to similar stalking reasons mentioned. i suppose anyone could just join and see everything anyways, but i just try to be cautious of providing much personal information. i too agree this is such a beautiful forum, full of the most wonderful spirits. i find a lot of solace here, and do hope it doesn't come back to bite me like it has in the past. =/fool me once shame on you; fool me twice shame on me.
