No idea whether I have leftover baking soda in my hair, dandruff, or something else...?

well if you say it is cold outside where you are its prolly just dead skin. i live in wisconsin and my scalp is sooooo dry but being that the skin cant go anywhere it slowly build up and almost feels like a residue at times. its just the dandruff mixing with your natural oils that makes it feel like a residue. flakes can be embarassing yes but its nothing to worry about.

loli'm sorry if i came off as rude too.. i am now sure it's just dead skin/natural oils.. it's really not flaking enough for it to even matter, i was just wondering if i seriously didn't know how to clean my hair right or something, somehow

Eva Lovelocks said:

i'm confused by your reply. i wasn't trying to be rude... i wasjust trying to saythat i think it is just skin, and not baking soda since i have it too and i don't use baking soda. and thati wouldnt worry about it unless it's stinky or flaking off or something...

so would've i said:

Easy enough for you to say.. Didn't you notice in the subject of this thread that I said I wasn't sure whether or not it was dead skin cells?

Eva Lovelocks said:

unless it stinks, who cares? it's just skin and it's normal.

i have it (always have since i stopped regularly brushing), and i don't use the baking soda wash, so it's not caused by that.

Damn. I may have to run to the store for apple cider vinegar then.

someone correct me if i am wrong but i believe that white vinegar is strained through coal tar or something similar? Whatever it was it shocked me. Rawsum had a link to celtic sea salt on here somewhere that also had an article about acv.

I had that same problem a lil while back.I dont think it wasrelated to dead skin cells or anything though, and i know this because when i switched from maylees bar shampoo to a organic liquid shampoo, it stopped. Certain soaps are bad in combination with hard water, so that is likely what it was on my scalp. Perhaps try switching what you use to wash your scalp with.
