Shortening dreads?

I was wondering if its possible to shorten your dreads? once mine get too long, will i be able to cut them shorter with out having to blunt my tips?

yes but its ..well its possible but i couldnt imagine ever doing it mine are a foot past my feet and i cant wait till they are 20 feet long

Maddy I'd use a razor to angle the ends and thin them when you trim--outer edges shorter, inner core longer. You'd have to comb out the cut end first, probably 2 inches, and trim when damp to have it look right, but then you don't have a blunt edge']
