Welcome. Unfortunately, wax has been promoted as one of the only ways to get locks to form. This is an outright lie. Wax, in fact, completely prevents locks from forming. Because it glues your hair down, it stops any progress past the first day it was applied. They will never mature. And because wax is a hydrocarbon, it will NEVER wash out in normal soap and water. It needs a detergent and tons of scrubbing to get it all out. This can take months of washing 2-3 times a week, depending on how many times you used it.
The only thing that you need to do is wash with a non residue soap. But the wax needs to come out first. If you don't plan on having locks for more than a few years, it's not terrible. But it will cause your hair to become waterlogged, and your hair will begin to decompose while still on your head.
It's just nasty stuff. Wax should only be used to water proof things. Or make candles. It's not a hair product
