Hiya...you know what, they will be fine if left alone now to do their thing, may just take longer to lock up, but they will be fine. Just wash and separate from here on in and you will have the beautiful dreads you always envisioned, I promise. You may feel the urge to touch up the messiness, but that is just part of the journey. You will probably see broken hairs sticking out the sides of them, but they WILL get sucked back into the dread all on their own, you just wait and see, dreads are magical......have no worries and just enjoy the funky ride.....peace
Welcome. Lots of salons don't know jack about locks. So they think they need to be a bit dirty to start locking. It's a shame, but they get this info from bad sources online. Not from actual knowledge. Never wait more than 1 week to wash. Like said before, it's best to wash 1-3 times a week. Clean hair locks up faster
Welcome to the community Cosmicbabydoll. Soaring Eagle meant to say to wash 2-3 times a week, not 1-33, that's funny, but just a boo boo. Hair needs to be clean, that is why you have an itchy scalp right now. Not washing for a month, don't know why salons say that, the scalp will build up dread skin and make it really itchy, then you would also have tons of dandruff once the scalp buildup starts to come off. This is a fantastic no scrub method that will exfoliate the scalp all on its own. Another great tip, finish off your shower with a cold head rinse, as cold as you can take. This helps get rid of scalp itch too.....

some just dont know any better
but the damage of 1 use isnt hiorible and life threatening they are still stri[ong eniugh just will take alot longer to dread
and be more messy in the process
but a 1 inch dread will suport 1000 pounds if healthy
crochet once and if it was real agressive that may reduce it to 900 pounds still plenty strong
but when you crochet alot..over and over thats when it gets weak and can break easily
we had 1 guy crochet alot only for a couple months but weekly maybe even daily
he dove in a pool a high dive maybe 8 feet and the impact of the water was enough to break off 4 dreads that floated away
as long as u never maintain with the hook they will recover just fine and thge damage wont cause probs beyond extra frizz diring the recovery
its the extreme tightness that will delay progress
damage never heals
it breaks a ton of hairs by thrusting the hook through over and over
but they will be stiff way to tight and skinny it takes 6 mo nths to loosen enough to dread at all
then a year to lose the harsh crochet look and look more natural
they wikk gert extra fuzzy during recovery from all the broken hairs popping out
they will feel scratchy and stiff till they recover

welcome but crochet was a huge mistake and u want to wash 1-33 times a week no waiting
but crochet causes extreme damage and delays progress by 6 months and will take a ywear to lose the harsh crochet look
