essential oils for dreads and scalp health

Dread Products

Hey all,

minor question; when you say 'lightens hair' do you mean in color?

having surgery

General Questions

my hair was shaved on the sides when i stoped combing.

it's now about an 1 1/2 long (maybe 2 inch), and it's not dreaded, but you can definatly see where they will form.

they're gonna turn out very skinny, cute actually.

i like them.

and my hair is very naturall straight, but from usuing baking soda and not brushing, the hair starts to swirl around because it's so lite.

you might like it.

best of luck with your surgery!

elmers glue dreads

General Talk

although the picture above is ridiculous, elmers glue is a pritty normal think used to get a moehawk,

you take some elmersglue, mix it with some egg whites and "insto presto" your a bamf.

and it comes out easily after a few days and you're hair won't move. which is very important for a moehawk.

the difference being that dreads are supposed to move.

then again maybe he was mixing the liberty bell look into the dreads.

i bet this kid just comes from a strong punk backround and wanted to try a more metalhead dread look.

the bleach gnargle in the middle scared me though.

Hello hello!

Introduce Yourself

WELCOME!

talk about coincidence, i was just talking with a friend (not from this site) who claims she sees a small dog ghost wandering around my house, always following my mothers husband.

little did she know, when he was a bachelor he had a small beagle that followed him everywhere.

i love little moments or realization like that.

Dreads & racism

Life Issues Facing Dreads

and in responce to jwood.

your double standard is 'okay' is because your ancestors havn't over come centuries of extreme derogation. i mean, come on, don't you think that's a little bit of a sore spot.

but all in all, everyone should try to be sensitive to others differences. :)

Jdwood said:

It's called a double standard. A lot of people do it in one form or the other. It's just the way our society functions. Example I have very pale skin almost albino, my face is reddish sometime but the rest of me is very white, I have a very low tolerance to the sun ( I have no tan lines :)). A lot of people think it's "okay" to make negative comments on my paleness because it is unusual but if I would make a comment on the darkness of someones skin it would not be tolerated. It's all about labels and what is accepted as 'normal'.
I like your ravioli analogy.

Dreads & racism

Life Issues Facing Dreads

wish i had a better way of saying this, but those kids you're dealing with, cloe, they're just in highschool.

at once time i hated when people said that, like it explains anything.

but now, i understand. when people are still at that age, having only so many experiances, and only so many way to interpret those experiances (tv, mtv, music videos --once again, i wish it wasn't so)

those 'interpretations' become very close minded, almost closing in on the experiance themself.

this happens mostly (i believe) to releave social tension (a.k.a make a laugh)

this shouldn't be taken seriously.

and all we can home is that these people go out into the world (because graduating highschool really IS like that) and learn to open their eyes and minds eventually.
