Hi guys

I'm having brain surgery in two weeks and that requires my head to be shaved completely. I've been dreading naturally for 7 months so I'm bummed. My question is this. I realize my new hair growth will have to be a certain length before it really begins to dread again I have very fine caucaisian hair but can't I just Not brush my hair from day one? I have had 5 previous brain surgeries so I'm familiar with shaved heads but this is my first time with dreading. How will this no hair, then mega short hair stage affect the dreading process? My hair was just past my shoulders when I stopped brushing my hair last October it has dreaded really well underneath the top not so well. I have more dreads than not throught out so It does dread in time. Any one out there with similar situation? Anyone just let there hair go from day one? Any thoughts? Thanks Mary

my hair was shaved on the sides when i stoped combing.

it's now about an 1 1/2 long (maybe 2 inch), and it's not dreaded, but you can definatly see where they will form.

they're gonna turn out very skinny, cute actually.

i like them.

and my hair is very naturall straight, but from usuing baking soda and not brushing, the hair starts to swirl around because it's so lite.

you might like it.

best of luck with your surgery!

Hi guys I'm back from surgery I actually ended up with having two suegeries which meant two shaved heads :( so now I finally have some hair just above my shoulders. I have been soooo anxious to dread that I backcomed But most fel out of coarse. I have the finest of hair. Strange this time the top has dreaded the bottom not. That's the opposit of last time. So I'm looking for words of encouragement and any adviceOn what i might do to help move this process. As I type I know the answer is PATIENCE but it's hard to do. My hair is so fine I would really like to hear from others that have fine hair as well and have had success with some time frame. Thanks.Mary

Yay for brain surgery! lol. No really. I have a nerve disorder in my jaw and I'm medicated right now, but the meds I'm on are destroying my liver. It's an issue that flares up now and then but will be with me for life, so we're trying to ween me off of the meds and see if it went away. If not, then I will need brain surgery too. luckily they will only have to cut 1 lock and shave the area right behind my ear,

You will start to see sectioning relatively early. Short hair does not mean thin locks. hey may start to section themselves thinner, but as your hair grows, you can just separate less frequently and let them congo together and form thicker locks. I started this set from a shaved head. Just don't brush and let them section out on their own. The let them congo to the size section you want. Hair grows around 1/4 to 1/2 inch a month.

Welcome back! Did everything go well with the surgery?

Nice Dreads= time plus patience. Try to remain in the present. To often I get caught up in what tomorrow will bring and miss out on the joys that today is offering to me:) Enjoy the journey.
