Am i doing things right so far?

Dread Maintenance

these guys are right, i have been extremely tempted to keep tnring my dreads but im just leaving them be right now. i did my first wash and some do feel a bit looser but for the most part the hairs that are caught in the sections from tnr are together nice and strong. they have to just keep going from tight to loose back to tight again to form the dreads which will happen all on its own.

dreadlocks without wax

Dreading Methods

i agree with you guys. my dreads are in that really messy and wild stage right now, and earlier today when i was out walking and getting shopping done for my first wash tomorrow and a group of people decided to mock me having dreads. when they did they showed just how ignorant they really were and it made me happy that i wasnt that ignorant.

yeah im glad i didnt use the lock peppa stuff, after researching it and finding that out i was just like "uh how can people use this stuff and how can people SELL this stuff?" im glad about mine that i havent used product on and dont have to really do maintenance on, theyre nice and comfy, and honestly my scalp only itches occasionally even with my hair dreading

it might be that residue and oiliness that made their scalps itch so bad with the shampoo

that lock peppa actually causes friction alopecia, one of my friends i know online i just found out the other day used lock peppa and his hair has started falling out dread at a time. the doctor actually told him its the lock peppa that caused it. that lock accelerator is way way overpriced, i got the same thing in spray form last time i got a piercing done for free lol, and on top of that i mean cmon i can go buy sea salt for maybe a couple bucks for a huge bag of it. ive had friends use their shampoo too and that just makes the whole problem worse, left their dreads covered in dandruff and they said their scalp was itchy after using it. a crochet hook... thats just bad.... cant say much about the elastics ive never actually known anyone to use them, everyone else ive known with dreads used beads

Second attempt TnR dreads

sorry about the lack of being on, ive been kept really busy lately. day 23 now, i do notice a lot of loose hairs that just arent attached to any of my forming dreads at all, im honestly not sure what to do about those. i have noticed that i need to stop wearing my headset till my dreads are fully locked, they seem to be completely undoing the ones around my ears. does anyone have any advice on those bits of hair that arent attached to any forming dread? should i wrap them around the nearest root or something else? ive also noticed that a few of the sections i seemed to have messed up on and theyre more flat and rectangular than square, any tips for that? should i just keep letting them grow or comb them and some near ones out and redo those ones? other than those issues ive noticed a lot of little loops popping out and some kinks and turns in some that i find very interesting to see how they go as they form.

ok finally got some pics uploaded. unfortunately i couldnt upload all of them, the ones on the camera were lost =/. i hope i got all of the pics ordered right, but i think i did.

well today is day 8 and the first time i slept without a beanie or something on my dreads. i gotta say i think they did better without a beanie on, they seem more tangled and knotted and not flattened. definitely feeling very good about them. they feel a lot more movable rather than trying to stay in one place. so far so good on the journey =). i still have to figure a way to cover up the one mirror in the house though lol. if anyone has any more tips i would be very glad to hear them.

alright. that should definitely keep my scalp less itchy lol. so after they dried i noticed a few just loose groups of hair that are apparently starting to get tangled together, and had to split one dread back apart into the original three it was. overall though all the forming dreads seem more like dreads than they used to and they move around a lot more now.

ok so just did my first wash today, its the 1 week marker, and i have to say that my scalp feels amazing. some hairs are loose and just hanging around but im convinced that they will start tangling with the rest and maybe start making little tiny dreads of their own too. my hairs still wet but i cant wait to see if it tightens up or what it does when it dries out. ive been sleeping with a loose beanie on but i think now i might start sleeping without it that way they can just tangle up and do their own thing, i feel the main dreads are ready for a no beanie sleep. i will probably make another post today and let you all know how it looks =). i also think from now till i can find my usb cord ill be using my phone to take pictures and upload them so you can all see the progress.
