I twisted my 6.5 month old neglect dreads.

Dread Maintenance

When you say twist, you mean twist-and-rip or just regular twisting?

Scalp recovery after crochet?

crochet and dread tools recovery

So, well, I undid my crochet dreads. I'm feeling happy and free and so pumped up to go neglect! Just my scalp hurts a lot. I figured it's probably best to let it recover before going neglect, so if anyone has any advice on how to heal a hurt scalp, I'd be very thankful :)

Going neglect in a VERY HOT country?

Dreading Methods

Once its dry, can I tie it or will that muck up the dreading process??

Going neglect in a VERY HOT country?

Dreading Methods

Oh, so there's the Ph thing. Cool man, thanks a lot. I thought the vinegar thing was like a monthly deep wash or something. Also, are there any ways to dry my hair without interfering with the locking process? Cause I'm afraid of not letting it dry and getting mold again...

Going neglect in a VERY HOT country?

Dreading Methods

I guess I can just "whash my head when i feel dirty", right? Or is there any kinda schedule? Also, do i do the vinegar one every wash or is it more of a periodic thing?

You use the baking soda water mix as a wash and apple cider vinegar as the conditioning rinse.

How often do you do that vinegar wash? And what about that baking soda one?

Going neglect in a VERY HOT country?

Dreading Methods

Hello y'all! So, I'm currently undoing my crochet dreads and preparing to go neglect. Thing is, I figured Brazil's heat would dry them super fast, but my dreads all had a little mold inside when I combet them out, even though i thought I was giving them enough time to dry (no less than 2 days between washes). The heat also makes me sweat like crazy. That OK for the dreads? And last thing is about washing them. Do the bicarbonate and vinegar washes suffice by themselves? Do they make the hair smell funny? Wouldn't want to go around smelling like vinegar.Sorry for so many questions at once :D hope I'm not bugging too much. Thanks and cheers!

Crochet, 16 dreads, HUGE sections

crochet and dread tools recovery

Hello everyone! My first post! Yippe!Well, let's start at the beginning. It was about 2 months ago when I, who had curly long hair then, decided to finally get dreadlocks done. That's me with the sunglasses in the first pic (that is, if the pic gets uploaded - my tablet hates me).So my friend had met this guy who had beautiful dreads, who said he made them himself. And so i went there. Then, after 13 hours, a crochet needle and R$ 500 (about 200 dollars), we get to the second pic. My friend, who saw that pic, proptly told me i looked like a helicopter. I had thought of a palm tree.I thought, "they'll get better" and went on. So we got to the third pic. After all the hype from getting them done, I'd started thinking they're too few, the sections are too big. "Maybe I just do not have the hair for it".Long story short: I'm not too sure about the future of my hair. Soaring Eagle just told me in the chat that with these sections, I'll have dreads as thick as my wrist. Should I comb em off and start again? Rip 'em into smaller dreads? Or just wait and see?I'm thankfur for any advice you guys have. It's been a dream of mine to have 'em locks...
