MAD dandruff - Baking soda going wrong?

Introduce Yourself

Thanks people! Thing is, I'm having far more dandruff than I've ever had... Then again, I just combed out my crochet dreads- maybe all that pulling and hurting has killed off more than just a few skin cells on my head...

MAD dandruff - Baking soda going wrong?

Introduce Yourself

So I'm actually using too little soda? I thought only using too much was bad, not using too little... And what about the vinegar?

MAD dandruff - Baking soda going wrong?

Introduce Yourself

Oh, and also - my BS ACV recipe is pretty much what SE recommends, 1 tablespoon to 1 cup water. I'm also rinsing the bs before doing the acv, as to not let them react.

MAD dandruff - Baking soda going wrong?

Introduce Yourself

A funny thing about kids is that they're awfully honest. So, when my kid sister and her friend asked me "Z, why is there sand all over your head?", I decided to go home and see what was happening.Turns out, there was so much "sand" (aka DANDRUFF) on my head that I felt like I was that "Sand-man" monster from Spiderman. There was a beach on my head.So I asked master Google about it, and found a lot of people were writing that baking soda can cause problems due to its awful high pH (about 10), even if you do the vinegar thing afterwards. Which is weird, because there are a lot of people ALSO saying that BS did wonders for them.So I wanted to know if any of you had similar BAD experiences with baking soda, and also open up the discussion about it.Also, I read about a DIY shampoo recipe that was like, 1 part HONEY to 3 parts water. Any of you ever used that stuff? Since I can't afford to buy dreadsshampoo yet, my only other options are regular clarifying shampoo and other DIY stuff.

Washing forming dreads

General Questions

I just did my first bs/acv wash, so nothing I'm gonna say is out of experience :p ... But i read a lot of people saying that some people do have like an adaptation period to the wash. That's because since you won't be messing as much wit the natural oils of your scalp, your body, which was producing excess oil to cope with you shampooing them off, will now have to lower ita production of oil, but that takes time so you feel super oily for a while. Or something like that. Hope it helped :)

General Talk

For those of you who aren't into folk metal, Jonne Jarvela is the vocalist of Korpiklaani. I've always thought his dreads were natural neglect ones, but I can't seem to find any pics of him with baby dreads... Well, since their songs go all "I would rather be with trees, than in the middle of noisy streets" it would be weird if they weren't... I'd like to know what you guys think :)

Physycal exercise and dreading

Dreading Methods

So, this is kind of a stupid question but... I pt's better to ask and risk looking like a fool than to let it bug me forever, hahaDoes physical exercise, or just general moving around, affect or even speed up the dreading process? I guess I could say I'm one week into the natural method, and in this week I haven't been very active... So there's that.If it does help, what kind of stuff is best? I'm an occasional biker and I'm thinking about going swimming while it's still so damn hot here. Is swimming good, bad or whatever for dreading?
