Today I have kind of a stupid question. I just received the dreadlocks shampoo bar and I don't really know hot to use it. This is in fact the first time I have ever needed to use a bar soap. Do I just smear it in my dreads or something, how much do i use? Anyway, thank you all for always anwsering my quesiton.

My hair literally won't grow!

Help! Save My Dreads

Thank you! I will most certainly put in an effort to find it. Does anyone have other advice on what i ca do in addition to this? I've heard a bunch about oils and stuff, does it help? If yes, what kinds of oils, and does it harm dreads?

Greetings to Norway....I am not sure if you have this for sale there but here you go. There is a product called Biotin which promotes hair growth. It is found in the vitamin section of drug stores and department stores. You take 6000mcg daily and in 3 months you should notice the growth happening. They come in tablet form. If you cant find the 6000mcg strength, just add up tablets to equal it. My mother is Finnish and has very thin slow growing hair, she started taking it about 5 months ago and wow what a difference!

Here is can be found for under $10, very cheap. If you don't see it in the vitamin section, ask the pharmacist, they can always order it in for you.......peace

My hair literally won't grow!

Help! Save My Dreads

I am convinced that I was born with a curse. There are many gypsies in my family so to would make sense. Anyway, my hair won't grow. I mean it literally won't grow. I Have been growing my hair for about 7 years now, and I started dreadlocks 2 and a half year ago. Go ahead and guess how long it is.

Nope you guessed wrong, my hair is 21cm (8.2 inches)! It does not help that my dreadlocks are damaged and weakened by all kinds of products I have been tricked into buying. My mother, brother, sister, father, grandfather, grandmother, uncles, ants, and just about everybody in my family has thick fast growing hair. They often complaint about how often they need to cut their hair.

My question is this: Can anybody give me advice on what I could do to make my hair grow? Please, please, please help.

Dreads look like they are filled with dirt...

Help! Save My Dreads

Thank you so much for the advice Ojas and Taye. You just filled me up with faith and happiness.

Hi Adrian, sorry to hear about that. but dont worry, have faith... now that u have already stopped using the stuff in ur dreads lets try gettin it out.. as taye said earlier u can try the Wax B Gone. there are great reviews about this wax remover product and although the shipping might be expensive, it might well be worth it for getting the wax out of your dreads. u can even try for local stuff that can help u get rid of the wax if u can find any. Go through the 'DREADLOCKS MAINTENANCE' pages here on the site try the 'baking soda deep soda deep cleanse' thereafter. u may really love it.. keep nourishing your scalp with pure essential oils (diluted in base oil or atleast water) and you will be on ur way to have some beautiful, clean n healthy dreadlocks. goodluck bro. peace. :)

Help! Save My Dreads

No need to be rude man. It wasn't actually caly either, it a this gel like thing. I went to this afro-hair saloon you see, and this old african lady made my dreads and told me to use the caly. The old laydy seem like she knew what she was talking about so that is why I used it.
It was dumb to think that I could make dreadlocks, but no need to cry over spilled milk. I came here for advice, not to be mocked.

THAT IS SO STRANGE! I WONDER WHY THE CLAY IS MAKING YOUR DREADS LOOK LIKE DIRT!?

let us go back to fifth grade earth science and rememeber what clay is..

clay
/kl/
Noun

1) A stiff, sticky fine-grained earth, typically yellow, red, or bluish-gray in color and often forming an IMPERMEABLE layer in the soil....

2) Sediment with particles smaller than silt, typically less than 0.00016 inch (0.004 mm).

Synonyms
mud - loam - earth - argil

my advice would be next time do a little research before you start any project that you intend to find success and satisfaction in... This is obviously a terrible idea from the start. Wish you the best of luck though!

Dreads look like they are filled with dirt...

Help! Save My Dreads

I started my dreads by using this thing called molding clay, then I started to use wax. It was huge mistake and i stopped about a year ago. I don't know if it was the wax or not but somehow my dreadlocks look like they basically are made of drit. I really don't think there is any recovery from this, but if you have any advice, please help!

Could i separate a two dreads grown together by 2 inches

General Questions

Usually i don't mind dreads growing together, but two already thick dreads have been growing together for quite a while now. they are attached about 2 inces from the root, and i would really like to separate them. I know it got out of control, and i should have separated them sooner. Can anyone please give me some advise?

Loose Hair from the middle of the dread!

Help! Save My Dreads

I started my dreads using the backcombing method, but after a few weeks i realized it was just shit and i started to go all natural. Somehow my dreadlocks(2 years) has ended up with loose hair rigth in the middle of the dread. Normaly i don't bother with loose hair, but when it comes out from the middle of the dread it covers the dreads and make it seem like I just started them. what should i do?
