I want Dreads about more than 20 years and now my journey starts :-)

Sorry - for the lage image at the beginning - later I found out how to make them smaler ;-)

So, my first Babydread in the middle of April 2012 - my hair is now near my hips and I color with natural Henna

One Week later after washing - must practice my first separation, for the underhair - my arms hurts ;-)

more knots are growing - love it :-)

After two weeks? I don`t know exactly because I don`t want to look to often in the mirror and don`t want to waste my time by thinking about how long this or this will be ;-) I startet someday in April and this is on the 30.4.

bad hair day ;-) but who cares? ;-)

Hurra - welcome my first little Loop <3

My "Underhair" near my neck and all around is everytime a big, big Knot and very hard to separat it

Step by step more sections came - welcome :-)

Love it :-)

Messy ;-) Like a bird nest, waiting for the first bird to live in ;-)

Now one from my underhair became to roll and loops - :-)

Now the right side starts to move ;-)

Ah...I just find how make the picture smaler ;-)

So...here my first at the backside :-)

Amazing what ways my hair want to go :-)

My first Loop and how it changed - always in process - every day new

And here my first "Loop" today (19.05.13) - amazing about the shrinkling of my hair - this is now about my ear - not my hips ;-)

Just my and my Youngest ;-)

Dry Hair? Is this "normal"?

Dread Maintenance

Hello Baba Fats,

thanks for your respond and you never be condescending ;-)

Think you`re right - it just feels drier but isn`t really - or just a little bit. My scalp isn`t itchy and I think then all will be all right ;-)

I love my hair and this journey actually so much....think I post later some photos ;-)

Thank you all

Jule

Dry Hair? Is this "normal"?

Dread Maintenance

Hello,

thanks for your respond

I dry my hair naturally - now blow dryer and I still go all naturally - no TnR or wax or any stuff like this - just wash every 3 days, rinse well and separate a little. :-)

I use henna since 5 years or so and yes, I use it now at all and the same way. I colored every 2 or 3 month, not so often I guess :-) And I use the real henna in biological quality. It was never a problem. Mhm... :-)

Are you letting your hair dry naturally? Or are you using a blow dryer now? Are you still going all natural or did you do any twist & rip dreads? Did you use henna in your hair at all?

Dry Hair? Is this "normal"?

Dread Maintenance

Hello,

Im just in the beginning (think about 2 month? Don`t care so much for time ;-))

But my hair feels so dry - everywhere - the whole length.

Before the journey of natural dreads - they were very smooth.

I take the same shampoo, then before, because I don`t want to waste them and I`m waiting for my package from dradlockshampoo. But Im al little scary...if I use the salt spray then....my hair become more dry - or?

Is this "normal" or is this a problem -like the danger of broken hair and damage?

Hope you understand -my english is not so good. :-)

Thanks and love

Jule

Question about separating

Dread Maintenance

Thank you Ginger

oh well....tired arms...I know that and I also try not to look in the mirror ;-)

I thought I can let them be....but this doesn`t work. Sorry about that and I find it difficult to separate them - it hurts and I think it`s not so nice for the hair and I do my best to do it soft

ginger said:

Mine did this somewhat. I did separate it almost twice per day for about a month, until the knots got the idea that I wanted them to form rows. Then I had to re-separate the knots closer to my head not long ago, because it got away from me and made another "rat's nest" there. Someone on here had suggested using fingers to feel where you should separate, rather than trying to see in the mirror. This makes my arms tired, but seems to work well.

Question about separating

Dread Maintenance

Thank you Heidi

My question is: you put the top part in a lose bun - only while you separating or even the day long? And how you sleep? with open hair or also in a bun?

love and peace

Question about separating

Dread Maintenance

Hello,

I have long hair and just started a few week ago the natural way - so my question is:

I wash every 2-3 days and try to separate a little bit but my problem is:

my "under hair" (don`t know how this called in english) - my hair this is near my neck is not dreading but it`s a big mess - no knots - just a big, big "thing" like a birds nst. Fells like a fluffy mat. Mhm....what can I do? If I separate them, just a few hour later its the same.

My first thought was: let them be....but Im worried about that later I never can separate them and have one really big dread under my hair.

Any ideas what to do?

I try to make a photo but see, this doesn`t work really good. Sorry
