Hi Zoe-eh! Buy yourself a spray bottle & mix about 20 drops (depending on size of bottle) of tea tree oil with water, Just spritz that on you when you go for walks to help keep the ticks away. I spritz it on mine and my daughters hair to keep the bugs away. Sorry I took so long to reply back, I have been away.

Welcome. Barrellad's right about Dr. B's Be careful if you have hard water.

And Don't bother with bands. The cause way more problems than help. Bands, even if used loosely, pinch your locks too tightly, and cause weak spots to form. These weak spots will cause locks to snap in places, if left on for too long. Also, bands tend to snap and get sucked into your locks and lost. There, they start to dry rot and can grow mold/mildew in your locks. It's just not worth the risk.

If you want to keep your sections separated, just rip them apart when they start to grow together. You can use beads/hemp thread to keep your locks separate. But no matter what you do, locks will always start to grow into one and other. No locks in history have ever grow completely individually.

Welcome to the community Zoe-eh! You came to the right site for all your healthy dreadie needs. A tip for Dr. Bronners...it does not like hard water and will leave a residue in your hair unless you have soft water. There is a map posted on this site to check if yours is hard or soft. Have a wonderful journey. Peace
