I am not sure, but I would think that fleece will eventually leave fluff balls behind where as wool hats do not do this. Have you ever seen a wool blanket or coat, never a fluff ball on them, they are nice and solid just like mature dreads. Fleece blankets produce those little fluff balls as they age.
