Welcome. Dreadlocks are still normal hair. They grow like normal hair. Even when mature, they don't grow out of your head in 1 thick strand. Because of this, you will always have loos hairs at the roots. Your scalp should always look like a bit of a rats nest. This is healthy. If you can ever see scalp showing in between each lock, you're on the fast track to making yourself go bald.

What you need to do is get all of the wax and gels out of your hair. Wax is a hydrocarbon, which means no amount of water and normal soap will get it out. you NEED a detergent. Detergents are the only way to get wax out of your hair.

You HAVE TO wash more. Only washing once a month will leave your hair dirty. It won't lock when it's dirty. Just because it doesn't smell, or feel oily, doesn't mean it's clean. Dirt and dust will prevent locking too.

Salons destroy locks. Even if they say the specialize in locks. They specialize in how to create damaged locks that won't last you a lifetime.

Thank you. The Dragons Blood soap is great, not as flowery smelling as other natural shampoos.
