The baking soda wash is fantastic, do you follow it with an apple cider vinegar rinse? It balances back the hairs PH levels. 1-2 capfuls of ACV to 5 cups water, just pour this over your head after you rinse out the BS, leave on for one minute and rinse out. Keeps the dreads nice and soft too. Congrats on starting your journey again, you must have missed them.... Welcome. Hopefully you don't palm roll anymore. Palm rolling is not worth the risks. If you don't do it often, it doesn't help create any lasting knots. if you do it enough to see any progress it actually does severe damage to your roots
