welcome crochet is 1 of the worse things u can do to dreads your completely destroying them with that hook
if u only do it once they arent destroyed byt are severely damaged and delays progress by 6 months
but the tendency is to crochet over and over to fix the danmage u caused the 1st time 5 years later your still crocheting still damaging moe and more and every hairs now broken into small peices so your dreads are very weak likely to break
Welcome. But I do have to warn you that crocheting is the second most destructive thing that can be done to locks, after felting. It's even worse than wax. Wax can be cleaned out, with a good detergent and lots of scrubbing. The damage from crocheting is completely permanent. It does nothing to help knots form, and only serves to shorten the longevity of locks. It also over tightens them and makes locks hard and stiff. Healthy mature locks should be soft and spongy.
Welcome. But don't bother palm rolling. It only does 1 of 2 things. If you don't do it often or only do it gently, it doesn't create any lasting knots. It only makes them look neater for a few hours. But once you wash, or sleep, they go back to the way they were before. If you do it enough to see progress, it will severely destroy your locks.
I palm rolled daily for the first 2 weeks, and 7 years later I am still trying to fix the damage
