1st off u must remove all traces of wax! as long as theres wax in they never will be clean wax traps dirt and reopells water u got to get it out

the bakimg soda u dongt scrub just soak 10 min or longer make it strong enough to do good (when wax is gone)

if u gotta scrub use a residue free soap scrub only the scalp with fingertips then rinse thru

but if your remoc]ving wax try dawn dish soap very very hot water (hot as u can stand) and scrub the hell outta the whole dreads

u gotta keep removing wax months after u tyhink u got it all its really evil and extremely hard to remove u can try the waxremovers here tho

welcome u never ever want wax in dreads! do agreessive wax renmoval get all the nasty wax out then they will dread right..and do not retwist as maintenance or it thins and weakens the roots even can make u go bald

but top priority remove wax!!!

Welcome. All you should be doing, now, is separating. If you re back combed them, you'd start the process all over. and good for you for giving up on the crochet hook. It does nothing for your locks but damages them
