it might be easier...but...I think if you washed the way your body chemistry needs...it'll do what it needs...

ok...you said EXACTLY what I wanted to hear!

Before dreads you washed less....

I'll bet you washed your hair like that for years....

I'd go back to washing your hair like you did before...and then work to just a little less....I might get criticized for saying that...but...if you weren't dirty before...you aren't going to be dirty now.

This is going to MASSIVELY slow down the dreading process...but...it looks like it's dreading up too fast...

it'll give you a little fresh of air...

allow you to relax with the process a little more...It's supposed to create less work...not more!

Maybe an area of this little community that is being a little judgmental themselves?

Before I dreaded my hair I washed it...every other day...to skipping possibly one day in that process. It got oily in this time...I worked myself up to washing it once a week....to every two weeks. It really depends if it's winter or summer for me...

Before I dreaded my hair...drying it naturally would take anywhere from...6-10 hours...depending on how long it was at the time....

now it is taking 24 hours or MORE to dry if it is not warm enough...or sunny enough to be helped by natural means. If I washed 2-3 times a week...wow...my hair would basically be hardly ever dry!

I live in Oregon...this place molds if you blink...nope.

Also...you said you washed it once a week or sometimes a little less than that....

From the looks of it...you have dry hair? Using non-residue soap and no conditioner...on top of all the increased washings.....

I don't have experience with dry hair...but...maybe there is a conditioner or...you can add more oils in your wash that you aren't rinsing out afterwards? I remember reading SE does this...because he likes his soft hair.

I've never actually DONE a BS ACV wash...

I get told I don't wash my hair enough...but...how can we use the numbers one person has on everyone?

I wouldn't have the reputation of being a "clean" dreadie if I didn't wash enough...

before separating is what I mean...

you said you are doing that a few times a day...so it could be a combo of washing it TOO much...and separating TOO much...and...

it just needs to be left to do a little of this before it can be tamed?

So...how often do you wash your hair? Do you have dry or greasy hair? also...what kind of water and shampoo?

I'm just running through my head different reasons it might be...I'm no expert like SE

I'll be honest...I've never known any one in my short time on the dread scene to have started with such LONG hair...it might have something to do with that...you have so much more hair that is being pulled in and together...then other people have to...

I know this site promotes clean hair...and so do I...but...it could also be that you are washing it TOO often...taking away too many of the natural oils that it needs ....

like I said...I'm just brain storming...

makes me wish my dready community actually used "technology" well...they do...but..they are off growing, harvesting, canning, drying, preserving...they aren't easily reachable...

Maybe the pictures will help SE when he gets to this post. :)

the reason I say this...is cause I've had to keep at it before in a spot...it hurt....bad...but needed to be kept getting ripped...otherwise it woulda been working towards being a nest of sorts...

or at lease not in separate sections coming out from the hands

wow...you say that you are separating as far without feeling discomfort...does this mean you don't rip it as far as it is needed?

How many beads is too many?

Dread Accessories

That is to me too. I have a pure silver hand made ring I might add soon and let it get locked on...

I personally won't put something in that's not just gonna stay. Except for my first ear piercing...I haven't even changed the jewelry in 5 years. Their stainless steel capture beads. :)
