Shea Butter for Caucasian dreads

Dread Products

typically shae is used in a form added to a product, like shae in shampoo

i have to add a disclaimer here.. i have never used shae myself, and many people use it without issue.. but i do know it has a rather thick consistency that i would think could cause buildup

so i cannot give a definitive answer without using it myself in a straight form

it is most likely ok.. but when you feel the consistency ..you might make a judgment call of your own

what you might want to try is, take a washcloth, roll it up tight wrapping some bands around it  to make a simulated dread add sme shae to it and then rinse and see if you can detect any residue

well, essential oils technically are medicinal, not moisturizing so jojoba or argon "carrier" oils are used to moisturize with essential oils added to the carrier for medicinal treatments.

shae certainly is a moisturizing option, but due to its consistency buildup maybe a concern

pure aloe gel straight from the plant, or sold in food grade format as a drink, or food additive is a great option! but be sure that there is 1 and only 1 ingredient..aloe

lily of the dessert i think it is is 1 company that makes a pure aloe

but you are best off buying a few large plants and growing your own..warning however-  theres 500 varieties of aloe the 1 you want is aloe vera there are other aloe varieties  that are skin iritants and toxic, buying the wrong plant will make your scalp feel like its on fire

be sure to get true aloe or aloe vera ..

jojoba or argon oils are also great choices

aloe is pretty much impossible to cause buildup and is my faviorite choice although i use argon or jojoba more often because i have it available more often

Dread shampoo that ships from the UK

Dread Maintenance

hard to say for sure but if any can it would be the dreadlockshampoo.com detox the charcoal based deep cleanse, the problem is that lint fibres aren't exactly small like dirt and get intertwined with the hair ..kinda part of the dreads structure.

it might look funky when cut but its really not hurting you any, only when its on the surface does it matter

deep in the core theres not a whole lot of diference between lint and hair its basicly the same as your shirt and sheets.. when you wash your clothes your clothes are clean

lint is just cotton and wool fibers stuck in the dread as long as the fibers are themselves clean they won't hurt ya any

your scalp will tell you what it needs

yes all sorts of weather can make the scalp drier or more oily ..so you just have to go by what the scalps telling you ..if its extra dry  you can add a lil something to decrease the dryness

sometimes even the type of heat you use in winter can matter
