no rubber bands should ever touch dreads they do damage they cause weak spots after only a day or 2 knots form around them so taking them off undoes progress in a week they can do any or all of the following (might take longer but can happen in a week)
get swallowed to permenantlt be stuck in the dreads
melt into a stucky goo you can never get out
break into chunks leaving chunks stuck inside to dry rot
dreadballings silly whats the pi=oint
just another stupid thing dresadheadshq suggests
ryb ryb rub roll roll rioll then wax it yo to stick it together and prevent it from dreading so you have to rub rub rub roll roll roll
seriusly..wash..separate..thats it
only beads and wraps and peyote sleeves belong in dreads

im 23 years in
i have a dozen baby dreads pop up every month or so many get pulled into other dreads (i almost never separate letting them combine at will as long as they dont get thick) i constantly have loose hair too..several inches..but thats where the new dreads come from

ir absolutely does dread at the roots in the 1st 8-13 months your likely to have 1-3 inches undreaded then it dreads to 1/2 an inch
you will get loose hair between dreads that had to grow long enough to dread but it will dread on its own as it grows
if it didnt then i would only have 4 inches dreaded and 15 plus feet undrewaded roots
u got to leave it alone to let it dread tho if u force tighten the roots u remove the movement room needed to let it dread naturally

dont tame them they are essential to the dreading process and are a beautiful fun part of the proceewss
but..you used wax wax is a scam and pure evil in dreads...a dread killer..it must be removed! and irs extremely hard to remove
www.dreadlockshampoo.com makes wax b gone wich is your best option to get that nasty wax out

28 isnt bad idf u like thick dreads but thick dreads are a pain to take care of
