To Bang Or Not To Bang... That is the Question.

General Questions

I liked the pic without better, but you look awesome either way! I am not a huge fan of bangs and how they make dreads seem to start so far back from the forehead, but obviously this is a personal opinion and I'm not a "bang-basher." I prefer a full head, but I think the soft, side-swept bangs you had in the 2nd pic were adorable too! Either way mama you're dreads look sweet!

Remove Stuck Dread Beads

Dread Accessories

You guy all make sense in theory, but don't knock it til u try it! Metal beads that "crimp" simply need to be turned the opposite way and hit again- metal will break-- jewelry making 101 right there....

Glass is not going to slice up the dread and get driven inside. I'm going to make a video next time we take a glass bead off and show you how it actually breaks cleanly and falls into the bag. Hey, to each his own.

There's always the glass in in a bag of ice then putting the baggy into a bowl of hot water, but I'm sure someone will just say that's a bad idea too :)

Remove Stuck Dread Beads

Maybe "whack" was too strong a word. I don't like chipped teeth, so I don't go with glass beads personally, but have removed 2 out of my boyfriend's dreads and we never had any cuts in bed!

If it's been on there forever and is now stuck, I'm assuming the dread is matured and then any shards are on the outside of the dread or in the bag. You could brush downwards with a toothbrush if you were really worried about it.

Remove Stuck Dread Beads

Dread Accessories

I've heard lots of people talking about beads getting permanently stuck in their dreads. It's actually pretty simple if you want them out for good.

1)Get a plastic bag and put the dread inside- you can loop it in there if need be.

2) Hold the bag closed or zip it shut.

3) Take a hammer and whack the lil sucker.

4) Shake broken pieces loose from the dread and hopefully they fall into the bottom of the bag- tweezers will remove any leftover pieces.

Even metal beads will crack and glass beads usually break into shards like a glass pipe dropped on the floor not shatter into a million pieces, but obviously be careful when taking a hammer to your dreads :)

Stopping By To say HI..

Introduce Yourself

I honestly LOVE grey hair! I will have to see if I have pics of my buddy's dreads that a gorgeous and unique grey color. He's also in his 30's (but closer to 40) and I think that younger grey hair is so special because it still has a youthful texture. I would totally rock that grey hair girl!

I can't be the only one who has this question

General Questions

TRUE STATEMENT! I have never had any other negative comments about dreads than from other white people!

Rainbow Fortune said:

I believe there are much more white people who will tell you dreads are for black people. And they will most probably be racist, and tell you that because they don't like the dreads, and they don't like black people.

Just make sure not to use baking soda out of the fridge because it has already absorbed some funky odors you may not want to be washing your hair with. :)

If you don't have soap molds you can also use a (clean obviously) cookie sheet and score sections into squares. Pop it in the freezer for 20 minutes and that should realize the giant thin soap blob you made and you can just break off the pieces you previously scored or trim them with scissors.

Muffin pans work as soap molds too, but I've found them a lot harder to remove even after an hour in the freezer.
