Lol completely! the fuzzy-ness will turn into frizzy-ness, and they'll make loose hairs, which will turn into new dreads, it's like a birthing process, it's weird, but amazing!

I'm sure they're fine, they'll more than likely figure themselves out :) learning patience was a big part of my journey, I had NO patience, at all what-so-ever. When my TnRs slipped out, I decided it was for a reason, so instead of re-twisting, I learned to be patient with my hair, and as soon as I let go, they started forming, it's weird out things work, and how peoples journey's work with their growth. I've seen it happen so many times on here, about how their journey helped them grow in some way. That was just one of mine :). I never thought dreads (even being my second time around) could actually have such an impact, even if you don't realize it at first!

I have a picture of about two weeks in, in my album. My sections were no where near perfect, and were alldiff. sizes, i kind of just grabbed a chunk of hair, in a somewhat circle and went to town lol. All my roots loosend, it's normal no matter what route you go, they will tighten up over time. Alot of my TnR's completely slipped out, and I never re-twisted, just let them be, and they knotted on their own, with their own sections, I just guided them by separating. :) If you have any other questions feel free to shoot me a message. :D <3

Mine are TnR.. well half of them lol. Alot of them slipped out, but i didn't re-twist them, i just let them go natural, and do their thing. They were obviously meant to do it on their own, so i let them be. :D I started my dreads back up July 11th, underneath my hair is pretty tight, the top (where most of them slipped out) are just starting for form their own knots :)

Not one to have questions, but seriously having a scalp EMERGENCY

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

I was going crazy last night trying to find if anyone posted anything about this, and thought i was the only one lol, and yeah my hair is so soft without anything, that i have TnR's that have COMPLETELY undreaded, looks like i ran a brush through it lol, so i'll have half completely natural and half TnR lol i have probably about 5 that completely un done themselves, but i have no intention on re twisting and ripping, they were obv. not meant to be TnRed and wanted to dread themselves, so i'll let them do that, i'm so afraid of ACV cause it does condition/soften lol but, if that's what it takes to get this crap out, which is what it's starting to look like, i'll have no problem doing it

If it makes you feel any better I kind of just had this problem... sebum, actually. Dead skin and scalp oils. I wasn't using acv much and I think that's why I had that issue. I used a Suave clarifying shampoo and acv rinse followed by cold water rinse. cleared it up [YAY!] but now my hair is so smooth I think I might have to dry it out again. lol. I'm not sure what to do! :D I agree, make sure you aren't using a strong concentration of bs in the water bc it will fry your hair and your scalp. Hope you get it resolved soon, because having build-up in your hair is yucckkyyyyy.

Thank you so much, and yeah, it was brought to my attention last night by my fiance, that my "gallon pitcher" was a 2 quart pitcher, lol i felt so stupid :( so in my wash last night i split half in a clean apple juice 2 qt container, and half in the pitcher then filled both with water, lol, i think that could have been the problem i'll do an ACV rinse, see what that does, and hope for the best :) thank you again everyone, you should have seen me last night, i was a WRECK lol

See if you can find Dr. Bronner's Miracle Soap. It's natural and not prone to residue. Most shampoos will leave residue. As Heather mentioned, you could also try dish soap. See if you can find plain (unscented) blue Dawn dish soap and use just a few drops in some tolerably hot water at a time. SE mentioned ACV rinses which are definitely key to removing build up. Maybe try some highly diluted soap followed by the ACV rinse.

FWIW, a year ago when I started mine I was using WAY too much bs in my washes and was ending up with little itchy scabs on my scalp (yuck! ouch!). I drastically reduced the amount of bs in every wash and the problem went away. It's all about balance, really: you want just enough bs to scour the scalp of excess dirt and oil, just enough ACV to rid the hair of excess greasiness and just enough oils to keep everything soft and moisturized. Once you find the right balance for your skin, you will have one very happy head! Much luck to you. :)

We have 'normal' water here, soft? not sure what it's called lol, and yeah, i know i do use alot of oils, but like i said i'm a feak when it comes to my hair, and afraid of grossness, and wet dog smelling dreads lol, my fiance hates my dreads as it is.."dislikes" my dreads.. i wouldn't even know what clarifying shampoo to use, but i think i'm going to look into that garnier i think it is?? I don't know i seen a post about it, and thank you!

Heather said:

could be a build up of scalp oils mixed with the bs. if you have hard water than its most likely the culprit. it might be a good idea to do a washing with dish soap or some kind of clarifying shampoo to remove all the residue on your scalp then when you do your bs washes use distilled water so it will be sure to disolve completely. also it sounds like your using a lot of essential oils. you might want to do less to avoid build up again.

Take a butter knife to it and scrape it off. I'M KIDDING. If you have a jet setting on your shower head try going at it for a while with that. Use your nails to scrub at it too. Good luck sister!
