Hello from Ohio

Introduce Yourself

I am not knowledgeable enough to give you advice on the thinning, but your dreads look amazing to me. I, too, feel dreads are a collection of memories and vibrations as they grow just as the person grows. They, in my opinion, very much become a part of the person. I would not recommend cutting them because of self-conscious feelings; and I like to view imperfection as real beauty because it brings uniqueness. Whatever the case, think heavily before you act. Cutting out 10+ years of growth is not something that will easily be replaced. Thanks for sharing the pics & nice meetin ya brother!

I Cut Them Off :(

Life Issues Facing Dreads

Yah, I know that feeling. Stay sharp and keep moving. You'll make it unless you want to quit. On a politically charged mental side note, I can't wait for the day people realize money is only valuable as a means and not an ends. In the ends, money gets you nothing. And I also hope America learns the Federal Reserve is a huge scam putting our nation into debt for almost a century. Return the control of printing money to the people and abolish, make illegal, all monetary forms of usury. Sorry for the political spill over, it crept in my mind as I was typing O:-)

ya i really wish i could say screw the job and just live. but i really cant do that right now. probation and fines keep me from doing that. its actuwaly a term of my probation that i get a job. i believe in trading for what i need. ill trade work for a place to live or ill clean for food. but that dioesnt pay the bills :(

Screw the job, I hope you find passion and survivability performing functions of mind body and soul that bring you peace purpose and prosperity. Had to throw some cheery spiritual optimism in there ;)

Newbie, Dreaded Beard

Introduce Yourself

Ooh most excellent. Can't wait to see them. My beard has just been getting thick and matted together. I think it will perform well.

I've got the same hair type, thick curly Italian hair. Grew my beard for about 4 months and I started noticing it dreading in about 2.5 mo's. I was constantly twisting it though. It'll prob dread on it's own if it's super thick. Had to shave for a job but growing it again soon. Post some pix brotha!.

Caucasian by the way. thick and fairly curly italian hair though, especially the beard. I haven't done any combing at all. In fact all I've really done is twist up some hairs along the neck border to see spacing. Basically, just patience and let it grow out naturally? The point of doing TnR would be to.. make it appear like dreadlocks quicker?

Thanks for the quick replies guys and I'll definitely get some pics up after the dreads form.

Yah it was more of a testing thing than anything, then when they stayed (didnt think they would) i figured i could twist them together as they got longer. So do you think a good path is to undo the twistedness and then leave it alone? Or simply leave them alone as is?

Newbie, Dreaded Beard

Introduce Yourself

Hello mi locks! Such an awesome site.

I was wondering if anyone had any advice for dreading a beard. I plan on going as natural as possible, only using my hands. I currently have 13 dreads planned (if thats possible?). My knowledge of how to dread is limited to put it nicely. My beard hair uncurled is anywhere from 1/2inch to 1in depending on location. I will try to get some pictures up. Thanks in advance for any and all consideration. Yah bless

James
