So I wrapped a dread and have some questions.

Dread Accessories

You don't need to wait if you want one now..Just do it around a small section of braided hair . Works just the same :o)

Your hemp wrap looks awesome! I've worn hemp wraps in my hair for years. I've actually had my hemp wrap way longer than I've been dreading. Idid my wrap around a small braid of hair. I wash my hair daily and have had no problems.I've also done colorful wraps with embroidery floss. The wrap does get softer and nicer with time. You justknot it around your hair same asyou would ifyou were making a hemp necklace. My braid was pretty small so I tied some phat hemp threads around the top of my braid for filler and left itlonger than my actualhair so I could have a thicker and longer wrap.Just knotted it around my braid and the filler threads to get the thickness and length I wanted. I think you're gonna love it.

Help! Save My Dreads

Hi! and thank you for the friendship <3 I think messiness is just part of the journey :o) I did mine all natural organic and let me tell ya now...my head looks like a freakin trainwreck! Ha! It's been 9 weeks now and although my hair is knotting up like crazy there is a LOT of loose hair flying all over the place! I seem to be in the same boat as you so don't feel bad..I think the messiness happens no matter how ya start them.Seems like seperating them makesmine more n more frizzy every day. The hair on theleft side of my head is locked up pretty tight and has shrunk up from below my breasts to the top of my shoulder and the hair on the right side of my head is not nearly as locked up and tight and is still long with some hair not locked up at all. I am very lopsided right now. I am also very loopy and bumpy and most of my dreaded up hair is flat and not round. Reminds me of my old dog freckles after she would go swimmin in the pond all summer LOL! The mess doesn't bother me thoughcause I know that it's just all part ofthe journeyand it will change in time. I already just have a mindset that they probably won't look good for at least a year...so I have accepted that and I can live with that. If I go out or someone comes by I just twist it up in a loose bun and put a clip in it. Don't give up your 3 months progress though! You'll just have to go through this stage all over again! Some of the dready mamas I've talked too said that the "made" dreads are less messy than the the natural ones.. I just happen to like the messy look best. :o)

Dread Maintenance

I feel ya! I really do. I would definiteIy NOT be the poster child for anyone wanting to do dreads!Ha! I'monly about 8-9 weeks into my journey and my head looks like a freakin trainwreck! lol! I too have thin, baby fine, silky smoothe, oily hair. I wash my hair every day. Gotta do it. I've done nothing different than I've ever done except quit using conditioner and quit combing my hair. My hair is knotting up and shrinking like crazy on the left side of my headand the right side is much slower to progress so it looks 2 different lengths anddouble crazy! How good (or bad) it looks, depends on which side of me you're standin on! I'm also a grandma of 5 so people look at me like dementia has now set in and I should be old enough to know better. Hehehe! However...all my life I've been just a lil bit different and never cared what people think so why should I start now. Right? As far as going in public... I just smooth it back a little with my hands and twist it in a loose bun and hold it in with a small clip on each side. Slap a little makeup on me and I don't look half bad considering all...Ha! Hang in there.Nothin worth while comes easy. It's just a wild ride on a slow train. :o)
