How To Make Dreads Neat Without Crochet Hook

crochet and dread tools recovery

I know when I wear a Tam to bed my hair is drastically less frizzy in the morning, so if I have somewhere to go that I need to look "well" for I usually do that, also awhile back there was a post on using a towel on top of you head and to reduce frizz, it helps too tho only temporary, you throw a towel on your head and run you fingers down your head on top of the towel (NOT moving the towel just your hands/fingers) aloe also works to tame down frizz but not so good in the beginning stages cause it is a conditioner, good luck in your journey!

How did you start your dreads? All in, did some tester dreads, did one dread first, etc?

Dreading Methods

I went all out and just threw away my brush and went from there. I tnr'd a couple but mainly went completely natural (other than washing, seperating etc...) The ones I tried to TnR around my face are by far the least dreaded on my head too to be honest! my 2 year old actually has a natural dread and my husband and I have been going back and for between letting the rest of her hair dread or not. SHe loves her one "breadlock" as she calls it and keeps asking to get more, but her curly hair is sooo gorgeous, and at the same time to brush her hair is a battle lol so we shall see, so that's why she only has one to start with :P.

Dreadlock Styles and Dread Styling

My part was pretty dominate (in the middle) for awhile but now it's starting to just go however it wants, the hair does what the hair does

General Talk

I don't have the time to read all of these comments yet, (i will though) but I have to tell you that one good thing I got out of this story is that she KNEW you were dreadlocking or she wouldn't have asked sooooo take that as good news, your hair is locking maybe in it's own time and progress but it is and it's recognizable as such (I know you've had confidence issues and I understand them all too well). Otherwise like everyone said, (especially the ignorance is native to no one religion race, creed etc...comment!) Some people are shallow and judgemental and ill informed and the worst thing about that is that they don't know it so they go through life throwing their crap at people! Hair is hair, and it's yours and all you're doing is embracing nature....love yourself and your hair and forget those losers!

Was poking around some old Posts about merging some dreads.

Dread Maintenance

I helped a couple merge together with tying them together with some hemp once, it worked great and didn't take long at all, I actually once used my daughters tiny hair tie for a couple days too when I seperated a little too much and needed to re combine them it didnt do any harm at all in the short time and it didn't even try to get eaten! :)
