Dreading Methods

Well i have been in the process to get dreads for a WHILE now and im already past all that wax bullshit, totally. My plan is to TnR but was wondering if i can still make em at least 1 inch by 1 inch? My hair is currently at 8inches-ish and dont want my dreads to look all skinny when they grow longer and when i pull em back to look like some little braids, everyone says TnR makes better for some skinnier locks. So im thinking should i backcomb instead, which i do know SE says is more damaging and whatnot.thanks yallll.

So yeah yeah i was going to do the whole wax nonsense, literally was about to order and i found this super dope site. I'm now doing the natural/neglect thing only a few days in but figured i'd introduce my self and take advice from the elders. I just let it do its thing and rub the roots sometimes cause my hair has quite a nappy feel to it and that seems to help? I was told to twist and tear and whatnot but not sure if i can do that in this early of a stage, basically i just have my regular hair going. Well btw i live in south florida im 20 and yeah thanks for the awesome welcome-ing. Any advice tips are greatly apreciated still not sure if i should do anything else to it but i was told just kinda let it go and itll section it self and whatnot. Thanks errbody.-Andrew

we all shaved or started over dreadheadhq/knottyboy dreads the right way, wonder why?

thanks to raw an SE.i guess im just going to neglect and not give up on it, and seperate and whatnot when needed, thanks yall, just didn't know if there was a better way to get a shape going than to just neglect.-drew

Wow, what an amazing thread to come across.I've been debating this whole month on how im going to approach my dreads and all the different techniques and now realize how crucial it is. When people say 'natural' does it just mean no products? Or is everyone with natural dreads just doing neglect?Sorry to fill these with noon type things but i guess now my decision is do i make sections and backcomb and palm roll? Or do i just neglect. Thank god i saw this i was litlerally a day/paycheck away form ordering a kit from online and this stopped me.Thanks to alll.

Well im guessing ill just let my shit do whatever it wants, can you really back comb and palm roll without wax, wouldnt that be pointless? Thanks for thaa help.

this thread helps abunch considering im new, thankss abunch. im defianetly going natural.would u guys reccomend just straight neglect which im doing now, just started, or should i section and do some back combing/palm rolling without wax?
