Dreading Methods

Washing Dreads Natural for beginners?

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

dude.. im goin through the same thing, after wash my hair will get fluffy and really hectic and after one or two days it would take back its normal composure, well vice versa of what youre going through. I think the dreading process is happening somewhere in between, my dreads kinda look a bit more tighter one or two days after wash. Thus maybe the reason to keep it clean so that it'll dread faster. I think the naps we take that helps in forming the normal composure of our dreads, in your case your dreads curl up again. Youre going the natural way, best not to rub your hair just your scalp. Not to say never touch your hair at all when your washing it, just be easy on it. =)

There all going together :(

Dread Maintenance

yeah, but not to worry, the wax will come off over time consider washing it with the right elements. Knottyboy Wax is made of beeswax, so olive oil or almond oil should do the trick. Rubbing it on the waxed locs, then give it a hot rinse, lemon juice could get rid of the grease from the olive oil. The wax wont come off over one wash tho. Im not really sure about Dish soap. Theres a Bodysplash that also work wonders, heres the link http://www.dreadlockssite.com/page/dread-wax-removal-is-finally . :) Sam Adams said:
Yeah, I washed my dreads last night thinking I was going to start crocheting them and they should be clean for that. Then I looked around a little more and decided not too. But When I was about to go to sleep last night I was feeling them and I could feel the wax chillin in my dread. It felt so dirty! I heard dish soap? So I think im gunna try that now.

i know how you feel, been there.. had my dreads waxed and backcombed, gotta tie em up everyday to go to uni. Having wax on my dreads just doesnt feel right, so decided to wash it off after a week. The wax wont come off with just washing it. Then my dreads started to do the things that you described above. But now, im already near the end of my de-waxing journey. Dreadlocks without wax feel much better and its dreading faster.

Ways of De-waxing

Dread Maintenance

'Dreadwax are mainly made from Beeswax, when in generous amounts, can make the hair impervious to water, thus rendering normal washing attempts futile. A liberal application of olive oil can do wonders in this situation. Working olive oil through the affected hair breaks down the waxy buildup. Similar in composition to olive oil, sweet almond oil and vegetable oil can also be used to break down beeswax in the hair. Follow the oil treatment with a thorough rinsing with warm water.'i havent experiment with it yet and The BodySplash that have been recommended in this site contains almond oil, thus probably the reason why it works. i was wondering if anyone have ever heard or tried these simple method in getting rid of wax?

How do you wash with Dr. Bronners?

Dread Maintenance

and if you do wanna wash your dreads you can do that by palm-rolling it with a bit of the soap or shampoo youre using, that way you can clean yer dreads without unraveling it.
